Hello Again,

Well Paul has worked his magic and we now have an operational version of the new navigation bar. We wanted to give you all a little preview of how it works. You can check out a working version here: https://newschoolers.com/navbartest/navbartest.html

The major issue with this type of navigation is how easy it is to lose your spot when mousing-over the second level of links. What we've done to compensate for this is to keep the most recent sub-menu active no matter where you are on the page. This means that you can "miss" your desired link to the bottom without losing your spot.

Take it for a spin and let us know what you think...

(note: some of the submenus are still empty, and the styling has not been updated from that first mock-up I posted).

oh that is sick, is it like not completely done yet? cause when i mouse over forums nothing appears down below...

I really dig how it works, my only suggestion would be to keep the current upper level menu highlighted, cause I lost track of which I had open at times.

yep, I just haven't filled up those sub-menus yet. soon though.

And there will be mouse-overs for the top level to tell you which menu you're in, but that will come with the final styling.

How's the spacing between the levels, could you use more on the bottom? More on the top?

keep cults and i hate to say it but i really really like the top without a random add in it

"So dude what crews are you in?"

"I'm in the crochet crew, ladies men crew, Build-A-Jib crew and trick tips crew"

"Sweet man"

As requested, I changed the colour of the active first-level link to be orange so you know what menu is currently selected...

Looks awesome! I love it.

I also like how the searchbar is *finally* normal sized. However, I do think u can make the word "search" a little bigger inside the button. don't change the size of the button though. It's perfect.

GREAT work!

yea lookin sick,

only suggestion would be to use on Click rather than mouse over. I say that because its far to easy to roll over another menu item on the way to 2nd tier menu item, for example, if you select my ns and then go messages, it is likely you will roll over news or interact on the way there. then you have to go back and roll over my ns and try again.

oh and keep cults!

A lot of websites actually have a mouseover AND a click. When you mouseover you can see it, but if you click you "lock" the menu in place until you click something else.

yes thats exactly what I was going to suggest. perfect compromise. that way, if you think your going to be in a section for a while, you can click to keep it there. but if you only want to check something quickly, you can just roll over it.

yeah the bar is sick but keep cults the way they are, maybe add power for leaders to sticky stuff

Good idea. Also move the more popular sub-link things so that there under the main headings eg. With 'My NS' have messages and my threads directly under My NS for easier access. With media mabey move the list over so it's directly below media. Thats my 2 cents.

just out of curiosity whys tehre a forums tab and a tab for forums under interact?

i dig how clean it is, i hope the add (if it has to be put up) can be integrated in a little cleaner cause that header is sick right now

also cults > crews i dont know where the fuck i was when that poll went up but........

and the moving more commonly used tabs directly underneath was a good sugesstion. makes even less worry about "losingg your place" if the most common tabs are directly down. either way its pretty easy to use as is

i like

I like the navigation of the new one a hell of a lot better than the current, but.... I prefer the current visual style of the menus. The grey steel psudo Mac look isn't doing it for me.

Still, Paul and Chris, sick work!

The old layout, with the exception of the huge searchbar, is more visually appealing.

Might be the image and color scheme that I am not feeling.
