Temperature

Seeing as it's starting to get pretty cold out, at what temperature does pvc/abs get so brittle that it shouldn't be used? I don't really feel like cracking my pipes and have to replace them.

I've never cracked PVC but I probably wouldn't abuse it too much when temperatures start getting more than 5-10 degrees below freezing. I don't think it would crack even then, but if you're hucking 270s on real sketchy and just slammin the rail you might be in trouble.

depends on how thick the pbc is i used to have a pretty thin piece and at 20 degrees it blew up under me. but soon after i got a thicker piece and it was fine even at -15 degrees F. it all depends on what you have.
