Telemark

I really want to get into telemark skiing just because it just seems much more fun(?), and eventually telemark freestyle. I was wandering if it really is difficult to catch up when you've only alpine skied before. Also, can you mount symettrical skis like anthems with telemark bindings? And for boots could you just use normal ski boots or would it be wiser to get some proper telemark ones? Thanks.

you can use whatever skis you want, although something like afterbangs may not be the greatest. and you can't use downhill boots. you need tele boots.

it's really not that difficult once you get the hang of it, but if would for sure be worth while to go out your first time with someone who knows what they're doing to give you pointers

do it. freeheeling in the park is where it's at. definitely demo some gear first to make sure you want to commit

you need tele boots and bindings, alpine ones wont work. yes you can use those skis, I use dynastar troublemakers and have used a symmetrical ski. Tele freestyle is way fun, it takes a little getting used to (landing switch) and rails and whatnot, but it is definitely super fun. I suggest releasable tele bindings, I used 7tm, Safer in my opinion.

YOU CAN NOT USE ALPINE BOOTS WITH TELEMARK GEAR! Yes any skis will work (I skiied invaders last year, mounted center, they were a blast), and haveing a background in alpine skiing won't help you learn how to telemark. It so much fun bro. Stick with it. I have never clicked into an alpine ski in my life, and I'm so happy with my choice.

When did I say that?

I belive I said something more along the lines of, "Yah, it sucks that I can't nose butter. It would be fun to try them on sometime."

you can tele on pretty much any skis you want. i did it on center mounted invaders last year and im on center mounted rockers this year. you cant use alpine boots hahaha
