I would probably beat the livin fuck out of the guy that inpregnated her. What would your reaction be if your younger siblings or even if you ended up gettin pregnant at such a young age.

uhhh..why would you kill the guy? It takes TWO morons to have an unexpected pregnancy. Well...i shouldn't say morons...shit happens sometimes, condom's aren't perfect. But in most cases, it's just as much the girls fault as the guys.

I got a little sister when I was 16. It's not even my kid, but even still the sacrifices that you have to make for a kid are unbelievable. I don't plan on ever having kids.

there were a lot of girls in my high school that got pregnant. one of them was fucking amazing. she lived in the trailer park across from school alone with her baby. she worked at mcdonalds every day. she got a 4.0 even with summer school classes to make up for the time she missed. she got a full ride scholarship to uc berkley. thats fucking amazing

i have total sympathy and the utmost respect for anyone who goes through a teenage pregnancy. It is by far the most difficult thing they will ever have to do in their entire lives. Any guy that sticks with their girl through it deserves more respect that anyone i know.

Yea here's the thing though, you would be angry at that guy but you probably wanted to have sex when you were 14/15. Common sense says use a condom, but wouldn't you feel just as pissed if you knew she was having sex w/ some dude? It's definitely a double standard because you want to have sex but if a good friend of yours or younger sis is you're afraid for them.

 
it's always a double standard when it comes to family though. You don't care if you're doing it, you don't care if everyone else is doing it, as long as it's not your family. Just like it's ok to talk about other peoples parents having sex, just as long as they don't talk about yours.

 
I was talking to a guy in my class about this today (before I saw the thread), and he knew one girl who had four abortions. An abortion is not a method of contraceptopn- why not use a freaking condom? Apparently she said it didn't feel as good. Would you rather use a condom than get pregnant at 16? I know I would!

I think people are really brave to go through teen pregnancies. If I was pregnant I think I would go through with it coz I couldn't bare the thought of killing my own baby, or giving it up for adoption.

ok yeah that's right, but in some cases its wrong when you consider people use to have kids when they were 14 or 15...but that was when life expectancy was more like to 30 or 35 years old. i'm gonna agree w/phrosty on this one, i mean as emotionally attached as you may be to have a kid should you be sleeping w/someone and something does go wrong, an abortion is the way to go. i know i wouldn't be ready for a kid until i was married and was pretty stable...you have a right to mess up your own life, but not someone else's.

I'm firmly against abortion... not because I'm a conservative Republican bitch or anything, but I just don't like the thought of prospective people dying because of their parents' mistakes. I think it's about time that people start realizing that the purpose of having sex is to create a child... and if that happens, they need to handle it responsibly and take responsibility for their actions, not pay a doctor to take someone's life.

I used to think, sure just give it up for adoption, but them emotions that you would have to deal with, just giving a part of you away would be a little harsh.

many people call my view selfish but I firmly believe that the mother has to look out for her own future and that having a child ir the BEST possible thing for her. And no one but herself should be allowed to make her choice. I also firmly believe in adoption. There are so many couples out there that are unable to have children due to different reasons and if a horrible mistake could in the end bring happiness to someone.

Many teenage girls carry through with their pregencies for the simple reason that they feel unloved and that having a baby wold make them feel loved. But what kinda of life is that for a child. How can a mother who, herself isnt fully mature yet be capable of raising a child.

I think that pregnancy at a young age is kinda sad for the people invovled. A lot of times it just leads to sadness and a lot of regret. Other times however it can work out really well. I agree with whoever it was that said people at that age aren't really ready for that kind of commitment or physical relationship.

Personally I think that sex is a special interaction between two people who should love each other. I don't neccessarily mean for married people just something that should be regarded as a huge physical step in a relationship, not taken lightly at all and when you have kids raising kids, that's sad I think. But props to them for going through with it if they do.

I am all for abortion, what kind of life would it be if the child could not be loved and cared for as needed. A mother has to look at all of the factors neccessary and although it was a big mistake getting pregnant, the baby isn't going to have a very good life if the mother regards it as the biggest mistake she has ever made.

The child can go up for adoption if the mother can't handle it, and go to a family where there is enough love. I'm sure that many kids grow up in a scenario where they aren't loved by their parents, and it's horrible... but the possibilities for change will always be there. All said, I think it's better to have a difficult life than no life at all.

And blindfaith, you bring up a good point. I'm 17, by the way. I can't imagine being a parent at the age of 14 or 15... but I also can't imagine having sex at that age. Abortion is a clean murder, but it's even worse, because it erases a life that hasn't even had a chance to be lived yet.

I think about my life and all the hardships I've had and all the hard things that my parents have been through and my friends and things like that. In the end you've still go things to be thankful for. You've had the chance to wake up every morning, go skiing, see the sun if you want to, you've had the chance to live and just trying to imagine having never come into this world is pretty far out there. I'm glad I'm alive.

hey, fuck most of you and your opinions on this subject. why is it that most of you seem to think taht anyone who gets pregnant at a young age is trailer trash and incredibly poor/ignorant? my mom had me right before she turned 17, sure, no one planned it, but my mom is not trash and never was trash. shes done very well for herself and i can (modestly) say that shes done a great job raising me too.

My main point is that if my sister got pregnant by some guy, I would flip on the guy, my sister could be at fault but I just know that it wouldn't matter to me because of the way a lot of guys are. And if they are having sex at 14 years old, it isn't about love or anything else, it's about trying to be cool and getting laid so everybody else will think your a stud.

I do know normal girls that have been practicing safe sex and everything and something just went wrong, they weren't losers or anything, they just fucked up, but they are takin responsibility, and i think thats all that matters.

I don't think anyone was accusing anyone else of being trailer trash, or poor or ignorant for that matter..... but you have to admit that a lot of people who get pregnant at a young age fall into one or more of those categories. if one of my sisters got pregnant unexpectedly from some guy when she was young, I don't think that I would be that macho dude that goes and beats the guy up. I mean it really would solve the problem...you would only create huge tension between you and him, between you and your sister, and that baby would just magically disappear. oh wait, beating his ass wouldn't help at all. I definitely wouldn't be that guy.

 
It's funny how you all have an opinion on the matter...but really, if you haven't been there then you DON'T KNOW. kami...it's easy for YOU to say that abortion is wrong and you should just have the kid...but what about the girl? She has to carry around all that extra weight, have people starring at her saying things like 'what a shame...'. Not to mention the emotional attatchment she'll probably get to the kid. I don't know myself but that has to be pretty damn hard on a girl.

Also...'ending a life that didn't get the chance to live'...whatever. It's a fetus. Every month girls rid themselves of what could have been a child and every night guys kill the makings of a kid. Those are all children that COULD have existed..but don't.

I say just leave it up to the people who are in the situation. The last thing this world needs is politicians and people who aren't involved telling other people they have to have the kid. If they don't want it, it's their body they don't have to have it.

 
I got nothing against abortion itself. I don't see it as murder or anything. The problem I see tho, is that there are honestly sick people out there who use it to avoid pregnancy when there are toher ways. The reason? Because it is COVERED BY INSURANCE (most cases at least) Now that's fucked up.

how come a lot of the males that replyed say that the girl shouldnt be having sex if she cant take the consequences...i bet many of you are sexually active yourselves. you probably dont even think about it when you're in the act. shit happens. but i dont beleive in abortions, not because it would be killing a baby, because its only tissue in the first months, but because running away from consequences wont help anyone...

 
I think it is tough to say what you would do unless you were in that situation. I got my girlfriend pregnant the summer before I left for college. She was on the pill and it still happend. We had an abortion, and both our familys backed it. We have broke up since, but I will never take that risk again. I thought our lives were over. Its no joke when it happens to you.

 
Thanks for that post, jibs... that was really good. Got me thinking. I guess what I can say is... no, I haven't been in that situation and hopefully I never will be. But the reason that I'm not GOING to be is because I'm not sexually active. It's not because I can't get laid... it's because I've chosen not too.

Okay, so every time a guy beats off it could have been a child... and every time a girl has a period, it COULD have been a child... yeah, and every time I play the lottery I COULD be a winner. The fact is, that when a girl is pregnant, all the 'could have beens' are gone, and now it's 'will be.' And abortion eradicates a PERSON that will be.

All I can say about the girl's troubles is, you play with fire, you might get burned. I don't want to piss anyone off by saying this... but when you have sex, you KNOW the potential consequences... and the minute you slide it in it's like signing a waiver. If you're ready to fuck, you should be ready to father- or mother.

I really don't have any solid opinions on this, I'm just kind of coming up with them as I go. Basically, lets say that I just have a deep, unshakable belief that abortion takes from life something that was meant to be here... it's taking a beautiful creation and destroying it with sledgehammers. Of all of our sciences, we had to develop the way to get pesky little things like children out of the way so we can go about our promiscuous lifes. Sometimes you need to think about the lives of other people too... like the life of your son or daughter that never will be.
