There are so many kinds of techno, asking for some good techno is like asking for some good rock. That could mean anything from Buddy Holly to Pantera. House, trance, jungle, breaks, and ambient all have massive amounts of sub genres to explore so it depends on your tastes.
I'll reccomend some sweet trance though. Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, and Tiesto are really big names as far as general popular trance goes. GOA and psy trance are my personal favorites. Check out Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection, Shpongle, Hallucinogen, and Analog Pussy. I like listening to local dj's since those are the guys that I see spinning at the parties (raves) i go to. Here.
^You're point is a good one, but I think it'd be more accurate if you used "electronic" as the macro genre, not techno, because techno is actually a type of electronic music.
Yeah A lot of people prefer to call it electronic music or EDM. Techno as a genre seems a little elusive to me though. Oldschool Detroit techno is pretty much dead these days as far as I can tell. Maybe I'm just not up with it though since that stuff isn't really my style. I'm all about the stuff that makes you want to dance like a psycopath.
Oh and that first link doesn't work. If you're really interested just go to rave.ca and search for psycronik's "Do it for the Freaks."
For all you people out there that say you don't like techno. You're just a closet techno fan (which is ok.) But everyone loves techno music at heart. It's a fact of life
Armin Van Buuren is rad and when I saw him at a show it was intense. Download his state of trance, the second part. Its what I am listening to right now and its insane.
