Team Fortress 2 Free on Steam

So how do you add friends? It keeps telling me that "some feature become available once you have games in your library" which I do...
 
yo seriously i just made a thread about TF2.... but on the real i play every night and id liek to start playing with some cats around NS's... PM me if you got this and we'll do some work.
 
My TF2 opens up in a small resolution and then closes out after the two valve screens. Any help? I've tried -autoconfig and all that and if i set the resolution to my screen it makes it full screen but still wont open passed those two screens.
 
ill go get that. also, and bad company 2 players? im still newish to it but starting to understand the tricks
