Tape Based Cameras

My poor HV-30 is getting pretty haggard. Tape playback has been a major bitch over the last couple years. Clips cut short, constantly cleaning tape heads etc. Does anybody else still use a tape based camera and have the same experiences? Are there any benefits to tape base anymore???

The only thing i like about tapes is that your footage is automatically archived. No matter how many harddrives die, you always have a backup on tape.
