Tanner Halls or AR7s? +K

I'm 6 feet tall 165 pounds and pretty much only do park. As far as i know the only difference between the two is that the thalls have a bit more flex. Please let me know what you think. +k for bumps and comments
 
ar7 vs t-hall is probably one of the most popular threads in gear talk. use the search bar and do some research yourself
 
Thalls are very fun, haven't ridden the ar7s they seem the same except stiffer and since youre a bigger guy you'll probably be better with ar7s
 
you just pay the t-halls for the name. tanner's brother told freeskier that there is no difference between the skis unless the topsheets. there are some info on armada's site but this is just to justify the different price according to tanners brother..
 
Rode T-Halls all season this season and rode AR6's for 4 years prior to that. I think I probably like the T-Halls a bit more, but you're not going to notice a huge difference in either ski. The T-Hall is a bit softer in the tips and tails. Either way you're getting a pretty bombproof, light ski. Armada makes really durable stuff, so you can't go wrong with either one really.
 
How can anyone honestly say the T-hall and AR7 are the same ski? Have you actually skied them? The T-halls tips and tails are considerably softer than the ar7, which makes allows you to do things that other skis simply cant. The t-halls are not good if your a beginner park skier, and they are not that good at all mountain. I would go with the Ar7 because its better if you dont just lap park. Or you can make the best decision of your life and get alpha 1's
 
I would hope they arent the same ski :/ I'm considering AR7s for next yea. I, had an older pair of t-halls a few seasons back and they definitely couldnt handle jumps of larger sizes.....still super fun to jib and play around on though. I am a bigger dude tho..6'1" 185.
 
I rode T-Halls all over Mammoth, and they handled anything I could throw at them. And if you want a ski that skis like a 120 and gets squirrely at high speeds, then sure, go with the Alpha 1.
 
This past year the Thalls were stiffened up in the tail slightly. I have skid both and there is definitely a difference, it's all about personal preference.
 
If your 6'1" 185 I think the t-hall is not the best choice if you hit bigger jumps and charge lines. Who ever said that the extra $200 is not worth paying for just name is smoking more than harold and kumar, because its $50. And if you love to butter and press its worth the money. Also who ever said that the alpha 1 is has an edge of 120, and gets shaky at high speeds is also smoking to much. The alpha 1's have a very minimal amount of rocker and considering k2 put rocker on its carving skis, and volkl is next year i would say they carve fine.... admittedly they do get a little shaky when trying to straight line ice down a couloir but then again ever ski is, except maybe the mothership. Their is a difference between edge touching when you are standing still and when you are arcing a turn. The alpha 1's rocker makes it better in all mountain situations as long as its not big mountain. The ar7 is one of the best traditional park skis out their, and one of the best park skis when it comes to all mountain. the only thing i would change about the alpha 1 is make it a little bit wider. If you want to land bigger spins, get better on and out of rails, and become much better spining switch then the alpha 1 is for you, especially when you consider your weight and height.... the only thing I would be worried about is that the 182 might be to small for you, if it was a little bit longer or a little wider it would be perfect, but i still think its your best choice.... What size ski do you currently ski?
 
ive tried ar7 and loved them, once rode the thall and found, that though they were softer, they can wash on bigger jumps because of the super soft tail. The t, halls are also more expensive but thats cause they are "Tanner Halls Ski"! but in other words, i would say wait till next year and youll definately see some differences between the two skis because tanner hall changed his quite a bit or so ive heard
 
yeah i had the same ski except in a 173 and im a lot lighter than you haha but compared to the distorters the ar7 is super flexible and by far a much better ski
