Unpopular opinion but tanner hall is looking and sounding pretty rough these days. Dont get me wrong he still skis like a boss, but his personality is just a little rough, he just seems a little aggressive about like everything. I think that in his childhood he was kind of let loose and found weed and alcohol a little early. All that smoking and drinking everyday since he was 15 seems to have fucked his brain up. He just doesn't seem like the type of person i would want to hangout with or ski with. Just doesn't seem like a compassionate human.
 
So you saw a few clips of him and thats how ya judge him to be? People in real life are not the image they are on camera.

yeah like I know what you’re trying to mean but that’s just how older blue collar leaning adults that aren’t softboy tiktok influencers or your dad act sometimes. Doesn’t necessarily equate to smoking meth though.
 
Dude has given his entire life to skiing. I bet he's probably jaded about some things in the industry after all these years. Let's be thankful he's still skiing and making movies at AGE FUCKING 40. I'll bet a lot of money, no one on NS will still be corking at 40, let alone filming for movies. Tanner has had his demons over the years but you have to give him credit for owning them and trying to better himself. No one's perfect but I think we gotta show the respect he deserves. Dude is a living legend
 
has tanner ever not been rough around the edges lol. thats his persona for sure. he can get a lil out of pocket of the gram too. (do not bring up andy parry around that guy lmao) and kinda weird that he totally bought hundreds of thousands of followers and we all watched it grow one day. but end of the day he’s still ski boss. he’s still pioneered a lot of free skiing. he’s still one of the greatest of all time.

he was pretty open about addiction issues and being addicted to pain killers and alcohol. all things considered, he came back to skiing and is totally killing it. he’s fuckin 40 and huckin his meat on and off skis lmao

You're soft like all the young up and coming skiers now a days. The Tanner Hall vs. Simon Dumont Beef will always be one of the greatest era's of skiing. Same reason why this site is dying is what's wrong with this thread. Pre 2010 kids were sending and dropping heaters yet now the only kids hitting jumps and rails like that era are kids who train on airbags.
 
He’s actually really nice— used to stop in the shop I worked in quite a bit and would just chill. He’s definitely from Northwest Montana, makes time to say hi and talk about skiing/ sledding even if he’s at a restaurant waiting for buddies. Wack take alluding a man that open about his substance issues and his found sobriety is a tweaker.
 
Tanner is passionate and it comes across as aggressive. He sat down next to me at a bar in Truckee once. I told him I was a lifelong fan. He couldn’t be nicer.
 
he lives in my home town and super down to earth but hes yelled at my mom for "making" his dog sick even tho he gave it way more meds then it needed. other than that super chill and down to earth guy with a really hot gf

nah there still plenty of kids doing sick stuff with no airbags

how do you even train rails with airbags? I always thought that rails are the most accessible thing in skiing, because most parks have similar rails, all you need is a good flat rail to master a huge number of tricks. but only few parks have big jumps, that are nice and functional.
 
Interesting I kind of feel the opposite. Tanner has always seemed a like an aggressive, intense, cocky dude. Which makes sense, he's been at the top of the game since he was a teenager 20+ years ago. But lately he seems like he's chilling out a lot more, just skiing a lot and hanging out with local kids. All his past movies have kind of had the same vibe of "look at me I'm the fucking sickest to ever do it" whereas XL seemed a whole lot more self aware than his previous stuff. I get the feeling that he's over being the coolest skier and now he's just trying to have fun with it and do the shit he wants to do
 
Tanner is the only person from that generation of skiers that still is going HAM putting out projects every year; while GOAT status may have been questionable during T's career low around 10 years ago, but I don't see who is more deserving of that title in the game today. So sick to see a legend come back from hardship and continue crushing it AT AGE 40.

Tanner inspires me to strive be as good or better of a skier when I am 40 than I am in my 20s; the same cannot be said about some of today's marginal 'pros' who are young and will be done with their 'ski career' well before they're 30.

Not to mention that unhinged Tanner content is so damn funny; did you see his XGames Iive stream last year? I'll be so stoked if he does that again.

TL;DR: T is arguably freeskiing's GOAT and you're tweaking OP. His enthusiasm for the sport is nearly unmatched, and nobody is pushing limits like he is at that age.

I think my friend dillon will still be chcuking cork 7s and backflips at age 40 (8 more years) and I look forward to the day I can come back to this post and claim it.

I can personally tell you he’s definitely someone you’d wanna hang out with. I started working with him on his film project here after and have worked with him and helped out on his projects since then in some capacity and I can will tell you he’s on of the most genuine down to earth humans I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing and calling a friend. Granted on skis and when it’s go time he’s one of the fiercest hardest working perfectionist I’ve ever met and hell I would be too if I had to maintain the level of riding that he does, but to say he’s a tweaker just cause of shit you’ve seen on the internet is whack af. What if he puts out that persona on purpose? You have to realize he’s lived and maintained the high level of riding both pre and post internet so yeah he’s alittle jaded by the bullshit that’s out there and rightfully so.
 
I think tweaker is the wrong term. Maybe super modivated 40 year old still throwing his body around like hes 20 is better. You ever talk to the guy in person? Or just going off what you see online?
 
Tanners always been like that dude has ADHD and more energy than a border collie. Probably just seems weirder now cause he isn’t a kid anymore

total side story. so inlike skinny girls with lots of energy and not once but twice this last summer i thought a girl was cute and then i slowly started to realize that they were for sure tweakers lmao. one ended up hocken a fat loogie on a bush and tweaker walkin out of there. the other was rippin their vape on the bus and thought they were sneaky about it lol.
