Hey kiddies, Tanner grew up in montana...something about some of the best big mountains in the world that he learned to ski on. He can definately hold his own in powder, just because the movies dont shoot him in it doesn't mean the talent isn't there.

Tanner doesn't have a high degree of skill on the big mountain, I agree. I'm not going to say 'he's one of the worst skiers I've ever seen' because that's not true at all. I might say, 'he seems more comfortable in the park than outside of it.'

Haven't you guys heard that shit talking isn't cool anymore? The cool thing now is to respect everyone and get along. If you do that everyone will think you're really cool- you should give it a try sometime.

I never said tanner sucks at big mountain I only said eric spriet is a fucking re-re. But while we are on the subject of tanner yeah maybe hes not as good at big mountain in comparison to the BEST big mountain skiers in the world but compared to your average skier im sure he can smoke most people.

EastAR-5 I take it you dont like big mountain shit because you've never seen one. How can you compare two arbitrary things like 630 blahb lah to makeing turns on a steep face. Why not compare something a little more related like 360 off a big cliff and 360 off a big jump. It's way easier to stomp shit in the park also the stakes arnt as high. If you start tumbling down a big face in alaska chances are you might tumble off a death cliff or bounce of rocks for 2 minutes. What happens if you fall turning in the park? You get up, pick up all your 'bling' and continue to ski in a straight line on flat snow.

There are so many disciplines of skiing, complete mastery of all is highly doubtful. yes, tanner is more comfortable in the park than in alaska. No, he is not one of the worst skiers. Even Sage can't master everything, Tanner is just doing his own thing. whether that appeals you to or not, that is your choice. He's not skiing to please you, he's skiing because he loves it and he gets paid a lot to do it. Deal with it.

tanners sick in the mountains, i prefer to watch him ski lines over people like hugo. he makes big mountain stuff fun to watch..and hes got mad style doing it. fuck you haters.

 
Watching 1242 (only time I've seen him the ski the whole mountain - I don't really think that makes me qualified to comment but everyone else has so fuck it) I would say his style is unorthodox (it's coz he doesn't seem to plant/use his poles), but that doesn't necessarily make it bad. He was charging pretty steep terrain and looks in control, so that would suggest he's pretty damn competent in my opinion. Though if you were looking at him as a ski instructor you'd maybe say he could do with planting a pole now and then...

Oh and if was to add my $0.03 I would include that in relation to some of the earlier comments good bump skiing and good big mountain skiing don't necessarily go hand-in-hand...

 
The main thing I noticed in 1242 is like ^you said, his poles. His hands are waving all over the place it kinda makes him look unstable but his speed is pretty good so learn what you can from it and then when your mountain opens go find the sickest line you can.
