Tall Skiers of NS

to all you tall people who ride park or shorter people that love riding long skis.

do you all find there isn't a ski long enough to meet your needs?

I'm currently on a 186 Armada ARV and I want bigger!!

yes I know ninthward makes a longer park ski but I personally like riding something a little fatter in the park.

So any suggestions on a ski thats longer then 190 that ridable in the park?

k2's Kung Fujas comes in a 189, which actually measures somewhere in the 193 range and is a little wider than your average park ski.

yeah i prefer longer though, I saw the kung fujas it's defiantlyalong the lines of what I'm looking for

kung fujas are fucking sick. i'm 6'4" and i ride the 189's and they're fun as hell. great in the park and all around the mountain.

i would say kung fujas as well, i was thinking about them myself, or perhaps salomon 2012s, they come in a 186

damn i didnt even think much about it , but now that you mention it my ski is way shorter than it could be.

im 6'3 and my park ski is a 169 k2 silencer: not only short, but flimsy and thin

shoguns go up to 191, thats what Jay rides and he's probably not much taller than I am lol

Think come next SIA your gonna see alot of companies putting out skis in the 190-195 range. Length is pretty trendy these days. That'll last a few years, then I think your gonna see alot of parkskis around the 185-190 range, bout 105 underfoot, and rocker/camber types.

yeah so far my options are shoguns and fujas,

i really want to stick with armada though, i wish the ARV would be longer

I'm 6'1 and I have been riding 183cm t-hall's this year, but I think skis around 177cm (not shorter) is the best length for me. Well this post wasn't really off-topic but it still was off-topic, U UNDERSTAND!

Damn your tall. But yeah, for obvious reasons I've found that width can make up for the lack of length for stability. Get the longest 100-110 underfoot ski you can find. One of my buds is a giant and he finds that width helps alot.

I'm 15 and 6'0", sometime on my 191 Caylors I want more, what am I supposed to do when I'm 6'4" looking for a pow ski, I'll need 200+

Think it comes down to ability. My one friend is big and rocks 180 surface doubletimes in the trees. It isn't optimal but possible. He kills it on those things too.

length is also personal preference, I prefer long skis and i found in general, taller people will like a longer ski

Actually I think width is all about weight and length is about height. If your short and heavy, a narrow ski will feel less stable side to side due to your low center of gravity. If your tall and light, you more top heavy and length will give you more stability. If your tall and heavy, a wider longer ski is more optimal. No hate intended. That's physics. Now people have preferences and this isn't true for everyone but that's mostly due to their "style" or how they learned to ski.

189 Kung Fujas is the answer, as posted above. Find the original 95mm non-rockered ones from 08/09, best park ski ever for tall guys.

186 ON3P Filthy Rich for next year. Atomic is also releasing two skis 97 and 101 in the waist, and come in 187 and 191 lengths. Both rockered with camber underneath. I understand your Dilema for park, I'm 6'3", and am skiing on 179 dead anthems. Too short. I feel I don't need anything more than a 184 for park. Next year I'm picking up 182 Punx

6' 5" 195lbs and ski a 183 Click! for park, 189 VCT for a bit of everything and the 195 AK JJ for pow. Would maybe like a park ski in a 185 but other than that I couldn't be happier. And whoever said they would need 200's+ by the time they grow from 5' 10 to 6'4 is ridiculous. The AK is a beast

What the fuck? I'm 6'4" 155 and I am a skinny motherfucker and get flamed for it a lot. You poor bastard, hit the gym, grab some shakes!

damn dude, i'm like that too, i'm naturally about 130lbs but i forced it up to 140 in the gym... on the bright side i'm only 5'9 but still stick thin

I believe you. It's my problem too. Of my five uncles, all over 6 feet, most say they were similar to me or skinnier in their earlier twenties. They don't worry, the weight will come. They are correct because now they are all at least 240. They still have chicken legs but overall have filled right out like mad plus have massive guts. In fact, when our metabolism come to a screeching halt, we'll have to watch our bellies.

I'm 6'4" and I've been fine with park skis in the 182-185 range. In the backcountry, I really wish somebody would make a 205 ski, but I'll live with my 189 Hellbents (which actually measure to 196) for now.

Moment Bibby pros you can get in a 196 there a freeride ski but I and there fully twined but I don't know how they'd ride in the park

I'm pretty sure they are stiffer in the 196, at least they were last year, so they'd be a bit lifeless and burlier in the park. They are a charging ski after all in that length. I'm 6'4" and ride the 185 Opus...they feel short-ish but that's partially because of the near-center mount. Next year I will gladly swap for the 192 or whatever it is.

yeah i just saw this, i dont think the 196 are true twin tips, the chart was saying 10/55 fro 196 and 65/65 for tip tail, whatever that means

I'm 6'3" and I ride 182 alpha 1s and 195 AKJJs. I think they're both about the perfect size for what they do.

quote for emphasis,

the bibby pros would be a sick option but does anyone know what the 10/55 is like compared to the 65/65?
