Looks like Gandalf and I are moving to Colorado. Never thought I would say that.

Looking for NSers that ski Aspen/live in or around Carbondale, locals advice, where we should ski, where we should eat, how to find a place if Craigslist isnt the best... etc. Any random info is appreciated at this point!

He'll be going to CMC Glenwood doing Graphic Design, and I'll probably be working in Aspen. We will need frands to drink beerz with.

Talk at me.

Eastcoast stoners and low lifes are moving in the valley more and more. Damn legal marijuana. At least that's what I noticed this winter.

Sunlight and the 4 mountains of Aspen ski company (Buttermilk, Highlands, Aspen, Snowmass) are your ski hills. Lots lift access backcountry.

Backcountry is possible but Colorado has one of the Highest Avi deaths in North America. Avi skills and gear are necessary for anything in the backcountry.

Glenwood is cheap to live but crowded. Basalt and el jebel are little more but closer to Aspen. Carbondale is cheaper but a little harder to live cause its away from everything from a commuting stand point.

Check out the 10th mnt Hut system. It's sick.

You'll meet lots of like minded people in the valley. Roaring fork valley is far enough away from the Vail crowd.

I've never been in a line more than 5 mins (minus christmas, x games).

go to hell

If that's directed at me, you can fuck off. I already live in Washington, so that has nothing to do with my move choice.

wasnt directed at you the first person to respond said "damn legal weed"

CMC is kind of a joke as far as colleges go, but if he is good at graphic design then he shouldnt have a problem getting a job with his "degree".

Carbondale is fun, especially in the summer. If you didn't want to work retail/service in aspen, there are alot of jobs like that closer to you. Pay is about the same for both towns coming in with no experience.

Finding an afforadble place will be your hardest task. Get a month to month lease to start because all the good housing travels by word of mouth. Its the old adage "You gotta be here to hear about it." It can also give you the chance to line upp some better housing come winter.

Sunlight is alot of fun. Aspen/Snowmass is the crown jewel, but the passes are spendy. The one perk of an Aspen job might be a 2day pass that you can upgrade.

If you guys bike, bring them. Lots of awesome MTB singletrack right outside of the bonedale.

IF you have any more specific quesitons about the area feel free to mssg me.
