Taking your dog backpacking

I am taking my dog on her first overnight backing trip this weekend. She will be carrying her food/supplies in her pack. Anyone with experience taking their dog backpacking have any tips or advise that that I might not have thought of? Thanks

Check her paws at all stops- dogs will continue on despite beat to hell feet. And a dog not used to trails is gonna get beat up especially with extra weight on them

Treat her shit, like your shit. Don't leave it laying around.

Make sure your dog is in shape and is used to wearing it's pack. I'm assuming you've taken her on long day hikes with the pack.

I have nothing to contributue to this thread in terms of advice, just stoke; someday I hope to do this. I take my dog for short (1-2.5 hr hikes) but would love to spend the night with her somewhere. Dogs are the shit!

I started by having her wear the pack around the house, then I started having her wear it when we walked to the park. Now I have been adding weight to the pack when we go on walks at night. This is going to be a short overnight hike just to see how she does, but I am not too worried. She has gone on many day hikes with us without a pack and this past winter we would cross country ski with her and she ran the circles around us.

Here is a picture of my wife and her breaking trail
