Taking elastic out

Found some killer ass pants purple pants in the basement. Problem is they have an elastic cuff (see picutre). They look good rolled up or tucked into my boot but thats not really my style and I dont really like it. Do you guys think there is anyway to take the elastic out?

eithier intirely cut it off, or maybe try to cut some slits in the fabric, then pull out the elastic, then sew the slits back up.

ive done it before. I just cut like 4 or 5 slits around it and then pull the elastic out.
