Taking a Trip to Whistler

I'm thinking of taking a trip to Whistler, but I only have to windows in which to go - late February and late April. I have personal reasons for why April is a better time, but putting that aside, how do the conditions change between February and April?

If you want to shred park, with sun being more likely, and more mountain biking available, then your spring break is better. If you want to ski all over the mountain then february is better.

I know that I am just piggy backing on this thread and am going to ask relatively the same question, but I'm thinking of heading out to whistler the week before the telus ski festival, so early April. I know it is difficult to predict weather and snow quality unless you are a wizard or fortune teller, but what is the condition of the mountain usually in the first to second week of April? I know it will likely be slushy which is good for park, but what about off piste conditions and the percent of the mountain typically open? Any info would help, thanks a lot.

That time last year, the alpine was still full winter (with solar warming on south aspects), there were a few storms and decent pow skiing. Mid mountain and below were spring like most of the time, with re-freeze at night, just depends on temperture. You could still ski to the bottom on both mountains I believe. Everything should be open unless we had relaly bad dry spell.

whistler will probably close around April 21this year while blackcomb will stay open until May long. They used to alternate which mountain closed, but I think with the bike park they always close Whistler first now to dig out the roads/trails.
