Taking a trip to Japan in May/June, Any Tips?

Hey, I'm taking a trip to Japan with my parents in late may and early june, and was just wondering if anyone who's been there or hasn't has any advice or anything cool or funny to tell me.
 
yea bro the place is sick as hell i lived there for about 7 months working,

few questions,

1) where about in japan are you going (which islands and shit)

2)How much cash you got for spending.

3) how much time have you got.

4) what type of shit do you wanna see (pubs clubs, culture, random fun shit, huge partys)

a couple of things you gotta do while you are there without exception,

go see a sumo show they are fun as hell watching huge guys takle each other, also really a good look into thier culture.

buy beer out of a vending machine.

eat whatever they give you as long as its not this shit called Nato (fermented rice cake thing pretty nasty.)

and just walk around and talk to random people they are amazingly friendly people i have been invited to dinner but so many familys who i met that day they are really chill people. get used to old fat dudes reading hardcore porn on the train.

oh and dont put your chopsticks down in the rice and leave them there its something about death, i learnt the hard way.
 
I know some people that went there. They had blonde hair and the Japanese people paid them to touch their hair.
 
oh and i highley recommend grabing a JR rail pass before you go its got for the budgeting, and gets you on the shinkansen (bullet train) and most the cross country trains.
 
yea dude japan is sick. I went there when i was in 8th grade, so that was 5 years ago but it was a blast. The vending machines there are amazing! They sell everything! The food is reallllllly good, and the culture change is nice. Just try to live it up, have fun, and enjoy yourself. Go to the pokemon center in tokyo (and other places im sure) for everything you could imagine in pokemon form. I think my parents have a picture of me jamming out on a pikachu guitar hahah
 
this guy knows what hes talking about....if you can take a day trip to Niko, the temple there is awesome, check out akihabara, the gaming capital of the world...um the ginza strip is kinda cool (these are all places near tokyo) the emperors palace is kinda cool to go and see as well. Basically just go wherever you feel like it and see everything, you'll have an awesome time. The food is awesome, you'll get a kick out of seeing prices for fresh fruit in a grocery store (like $100 for a cantelope), get the authenric ramen it kicks ass and i loved getting yakitori it was great. But ya, just go around and have a blast, its hard not to.
 
i'm spending every dime of my graduation money on a trip to japan. i've got a few semesters though... i can't wait.
 
i went there in september. so dope. itll be hot in june. i went to the Fuji Speedway and watched drifting. that was fucking super ill. saw all of my fanasty cars.

make sure you go to a korean barbecque restaurant. super good.

Kobe beef is reallly expensive but by far the best food ive ever had.

i hope you like fish

so much shopping there its ridicoulous.

Check out Kobe and Kyoto, coolest cities ever. Make sure to visit Himeji Castle and tour all the gardens. Also, if you're into temples, the Golden and Silver temples around that area are massively cool, and have some of the sweetest gardens ever. Also, take a day trip up into the mountains, most of them are set aside as natural areas, and there are some sweet parks and hiking trails up there.
 
bring your skateboard if you still skate

and eat food that isnt found a normal restaurant. some of the best cuisine is found down allyways n shit...unless your not planning on visting those parts of the city..
 
Definitly get out of tokyo, the place is awesome but once you get out you will understand, stay a while in kyoto the place is awesome go to nara park that has a huge building with buddha thing, hiroshima is good to go and see ant the peace museum, but my fravorite place in the whole place is the inland sea and the island of miyajima you can see for miles with all these small islands everywhere when you take the cable car up. you could do Hiroshioma and miyajima in 1 day.
 
most resorts colse around april the bigger ones may still be open ring them before you leave and ask or check web reports.

my fravorite around that area is a place called Iizuna which is about 170kms from tokyo and there is a train there, they dont allow snowboards though which is a bit of a drag.

Shiga Kogen is also in nagano and is got around 20 resorts so its a bit bigger and therefore a little crowded but april thereshould be basiclly noone there.
