These guys have already gone so much better. Totally new shape so now the edge goes all the way back similar to the sakana. Ash stringers down the middle for less chatter. Router shaped base for perfect alignment. Curly anigre(African hardwood) topsheet which will be dope asf

Shape is more swallow tail than fishtail now but I’m hoping for similar results

Used a planer jig for the core so smooth, consistent and the same between both cores. Far better than a hand planer lmao

All is well-they better not get fucked tho

making a vaccuum press is really easy man. all you need is an old fridge compressor (free), plastic drop sheet for painting ($20), one of those chip bag sealers ($20), tubing (5$), the top half of a bottle (free) and a bicylce cable barrel adjuster ($5)

it just hard to control the flow of epoxy and base flatness in a compression mold like yours. especially without any heat.

i wish you luck tho. when you get them cut out and sidewalls beveled, take em to shop to get the bases ground on a belt and stone. the finishing makes the biggest difference in how they ride imo

yup thats what ive done with previous iterations. i work at a shop too so that makes it easy and cheap

how did your bases come out? very concave?

hb the edges on the tips? the gaps between edges and base material?

did the camber/rocker profile come out as you wanted? are the two skis the same?

any noticeable voids between edges and core?

get em finished up at a shop, get some bindings on them (maybe use some inserts, i havent had good luck with poplar holding in my screws) and let us how know how they feel!
