Tahoe Trip

My family is planning a trip to shred Tahoe. I really know nothing about it - What resort should we go to? What's a cheap place to stay?

Tahoe is an awesome place to rip. The resorts id suggest depends on what youre looking for and what time of year you come. Reno has cheap options to stay and plenty of non skiing related things to do. Mt. Rose is my favorite place to go and its 25-45 minutes away depending on where in town you stay. Squaw Valley,Alpine Meadows, Sugar Bowl, Northstar, Boreal are about an hour to hour and a half drive. If you stay in south lake tahoe you would be right next to Heavenly and Kirkwood is also close to there. The west shore has some good options from there in Sierra at Tahoe and Homewood.

Thank you a ton! It's nice to know a bit about the area from a person who knows the scene.

Ski sugar bowl for no lines, terrain that's right up there w squaw and kwood, affordable lift tickets (relative to the rest of tahoe), and the most snow in Tahoe. Ski nights at boreal if you need to get your park fix. Stay in serene lakes or tahoe donner if ur trynna rent a cabin, or stay at a casino hotel.

Ski Sugar Bowl for the last local spot, sadly Alpine Meadows is too blown up now but thats still my home mountain. Squaw is nice on a good day, but good luck not being in lines on a good day and getting cut off by dick head weekend warriors. Boreal is for park only, night skiing is the best there, 3-9pm and you hot lap like crazy. Northstar is for dong draggers that wanna be cool, its a dope park but its a resort more than anything and they are pompous dicks there. South lake is the shadowey place like in lion king, except for Kirkwood, kirkwood is real. MT.Rose is a dope option too, super short drive from reno and some good skiing. Homewood is for familys and mellow days for lake views. Sierra At Tahoe is a dope mountain, never too busy. All in all my favorite two mountains are Alpine Meadows and Sugar Bowl, but Boreal for park.

reno is really keep to stay compared to the mountains and is not to bad of a drive and I would go to squaw to ski

Squaw alpine are like 45 minute. Sugar bowl an hour along with boreal. And northstar is like 35 minutes if you drive a decent speed.
