Tahoe help

Im going to be going up to tahoe this xmas break and i have never been there before. Could some one who is familiar with tahoe tell me a good place to ski at. Not looking at a designated park, powder etc place just a well rounded resort. Thanks+ k for help
 
Squaw has a pretty good all mountain, along with a pretty good park.

Alpine is a lower key place than squaw, and ive heard good things about it, but never have actually been.

northstar is decent if you want to do something after you ski, like shop around or hang in the village but the lines are pretty long on the mountain.
 
You can't really go wrong with the overall skiing at Squaw, Alpine, Sugar Bowl and Kirkwood. The terrain at those places will blow you away, especially if the snow is good. Rose is decent, particularly if it rained high elsewhere, and Heavenly can have its plusses but it's more of a weird mountain with a good view. Northstar is an east coast mountain terrain-wise so it's all about the park.
 
squaw is a sick mountain with lots of amazing terrain, but has the worst crowds of anywhere. Alpine's terrain is pretty much just as good, but you have to hike to a lot of the best lines. Alpine is a way chiller vibe also; its called squallywood for a reason. I would say avoid squaw during xmas week.
 
For park, I would say Northstar or Boreal, but fuck park if your coming to Tahoe, Alpine will be your best bet, again, in my opinion, limited lines, and dope ass terrain, the hike-too's are easy, epic, and relativly untracked. Also, homewood is pretty damn fun on a pow day aswell, no where near as epic as alpine, but has some fun trees.go to squaw if you love lines, sugar bowl is pretty damn dope too, not sure about the line situation there though
 
Squaw is probably one of the best out of the bunch. I liked sierra, decent park lots of tree runs and good powder terrain. Northstar has probably the best park in tahoe but i thought the rest of the mountain is kinda boring. Kirkwood's got good freeriding but there park sucks.

Heavenly is probably my favourite. Great park that's set up well, good tree skiing on a powder day, plus it's close to lot's of accomadation and the casino's.
 
Sugar bowl. Less crowded and cheaper than all the others, and closer if you're from the bay. But they are all good. I'd stay away from the bigger resorts (squaw) during break

ive skied at squaw and alpine and theyre both sick. skied towers the day before CRJ died on it actually :(
my big tip is to go to alpine meadows if there's just been a massive dump. i know that sounds illogical but the lift lines for the good stuff at squaw (KT-22) will be massive. also squaw gets tracked out faster.
if you dont know what kt-22 is just youtube it. its the best lift in america
 
Like everybody said, Alpine is sick. I visited around this time a few years ago and Alpine had very short lines compared to Heavenly, Northstar and Squaw. I went to Boreal too and it was really fun, cheap tickets too. I know when I went Squaw they had really good ticket prices for college kids; not sure if they are still doing it, but it was some special on their website.

Only been once, went to Squaw, did not regret it. I brought a chick though so shit like the ice rink on the mountain and the nice little village really got me bonus getting laid points.
Plus Alpine is literally a 5 minute drive away, you could easily ski both of them. I was going to but Squaw was so big and gnarley that I ended up just staying there the whole time.
 
squaw's park is a fucking joke this year. new management has fucked everything up--they wont let the park crew build anything over 35 feet even on riv...shits ridiculous, currently they have a mini pipe, 4 jibs and 4 retard level jumps. ive already complained on their facebook, you should too.
 
omg my name is alex g too. and i think the park manager from sugar bowl went to squaw which is the reason our park is sick right now and your sucks haha
