T3i/Scuba Diving

Hey so i go scuba diving a lot and i have been thinking about taking my T3i with me. I know there are a few cases for taking it down without water leak. I was wondering if anyone else has done this? and what they did for their lenses? and also how it worked out for them?

I have a dicapac for my gh2, but it fits any slr. It's only good for like 15 feet though I think, but it's great for that

Why take an slr? You probably won't be able to focus or zoom through the lens, why not just use a gopro or something?

The reason I want to take my slr is because there are a few dive shops in Arizona where I live and my Dad is opening one and the owner of another one said that if my pictures turn out as good as my ones on land that he would be happy to buy them.

I have been looking at this case

Which should let me be able to zoom and focus but my only problem is i have to buy lens ports separately so im still debating if it is worth it or not.

I still use my go pro a lot while im down there and have a little point and shoot canon but i just wanted to try and take it up a level with my slr.

haha yup! its soooo damn expensive thats why i really dont want to but then again i can make some money off of doing it and have it for personal use as well.

damn. you might want to just buy the gopro 3 black edition for underwater, and use your t3i for above water and save a ton of money. thats what I would do

I know it sounds a bit sketchy but I used to see some DIY projects on vimeo of a underwater housing. Some looked pretty good though so I would check on there for an DIY things other then that you will probably spend alot of money my friend haha

Ya thats true i never thought about that. Ill prob end up buying it I already got a shop to say they would pay me if i took pics of there classes which will help pay for it so i think im going to get it.

Also i have a gopro and use it for when we dive but i like taking pictures more then filming. I honestly hate editing videos it pisses me off haha i love editing photos though!

Do you really think the picture quality would be that different if you just got an underwater housing for like a point and shoot or something, or just a gopro? You should at least try that out before dropping so much money on this case
