T2i Overheating and Questions.

I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with their t2i overheating. Obviously this would not happen during ski season but in the summer and warm conditions. Also, as the t2i is not weather proofed like the 60d/7d, should I be nervous filming on the hill?
+k for good answers. thanks

I've used some friends T2i's, and they have overheated in hot weather. I just let it cool down and don't turn it on for 10 minutes...kinda a drag. The only problems I've ever had in the winter is using one of those third party battery grips or batteries, THEY DRAIN SO FAST!

I've heard of very few people with overheating t2i's. It's more of an issue with 7d's.

As for bringing it on hill, just don't drop it. As long as it's dry your fine. If it's snowing bring a plastic bag with you and have a filter on your lens

what dose it mean when im recording and it stops and i get a message saying "movie recording has been stopped automatically" anyone had this its only happened a few times and its random so i dont wanna film something important and have it crap out on me

Yeah I get that occasionally. Usually after turning my camera on and running the first clip. I've been fucked over by it several times while skiing.

yeah usually just means your card can't keep up, make sure you're running class 10 cards.

to OP, I have had my T2i overheat a few times, but it's always at strange times. Never had any problems overheating in hot weather, the only times I can think of are once when I was inside of a normal temperature room, and another time when I was filming postseason skiing this past may, it was cold enough that you had to wear a sweatshirt. so it's hard to tell when it will overheat.

As for weather, I have never had any issues. I was used to filming in all weather with my HVX so I took the same approach with my T2i. I've shot in the rain and in blizzards with the T2i uncovered and never had problems. If the weather is shitty, I just make sure to put the lens cap on whenever I'm not filming and I kinda cover the camera body with my arms on the chairlift.

thanks for the input everyone. i should be getting the t2i or t3i soon. t3i might be worth the extra hundy as ive read that it is less prone to overheating and other features.

word. it occasionally happens to me as well, and i run all 16 gb class 10 cards. just sort of an annoying problem that comes with the territory of using a photo cam for video i guess
