I can't address the people saying Henrik's run was perfect, but I happened to be watching the final with some dudes who don't know too much about our sport. They were rooting for the US skiers (despite knowing the US swept before even watching the event) but after Henrik's second run they had the joint reaction of "WOW." He is an impressive skier.
People care because they want an amazing skier to get some recognition for his skiing, and that's what all the rukus is about. For me the way he handled and has always handled what place he's in after the event (with maximum stokage) is why I have nothing for respect for him and why he's so loved in the sport. That reaction, especially when shared by everyone like it was in sochi, is what's important and why this sport is so amazing.
So even though Henrik may not have won, I understand why people are disappointed. None better than he could be found to globally represent what our sport stands for: having fun on the snow. I'd just like to point out that he is, along with the americans, doing just that even without a medal. And that is a wonderful thing.
