Syndicate outerwear casual hate thread

hot take im sorry but syndicate gotta be the most lame looking gear ive ever seen and i feel like no ones really mentioned it, those cargo pants look like some alibaba drop shipped oem rigs with some suspect branding on them (not to mention they only go up to xl). and those jackets look like something dope snow or montec would release for a rich texan on his yearly aspen trip. aside from the outerwear they picked up a dude who looks back at the camera after a daffy butter and i feel that kinda speaks for itself

feel free to tell me im wrong but i had to get this one out

I agree with you they’re not the most original style of clothes but idk if I’d make a whole thread about it lol. This is coming from someone who already likes to make toxic ass threads and Posts here and there.

Respectable. I just don’t understand why people shit on companies in this manner even when they didn’t “do anything wrong” like it just kills their livelihood so bad. That’s just me though.

I believe op has some valid points here. I really would like to know who started the brand, who owns it, and where they manufacture their stuff because it does look like some shit from a cheap Chinese manufacturer with a logo tossed on it. They give me cariuma vibes so i did some investigation and didn't find much. I could be super super wrong and they could be nice but it seems sus

did some light sleuthing, according to the utah business registry its under derek simpsons name. aka iceberg simpson i believe

I still don’t understand the Montec hate. I get that you don’t like the people that wear it, but what’s the issue with the outerwear itself?

Can someone please point out from a design perspective what’s wrong with it? I used to do graphic design work / still work in a design field. The graphics / colors and cuts of the gear look to be aesthetically nice.

The people who wear Montec are the main issue. They always gotta tell you they wear montec. The clothes are alright I guess but it’s more about the social hierarchy it imposes. Same with dope snow

Montec pants - 150 to 220

Harlaut pants - 170

I just find it funny everyone clowns the stuff because they consider it too expensive, yet it’s not much more than the freaking massively impractical harlaut balloon pants we all love.

Not to mention people who have vishnus always have to talk about them.

people always have to flex their on3ps which are expensive as heck too.

I think Derek has the right idea but the shape and sizing of the pants needs to be tweaked, I see a few guys at bonezone wearing them and they just look superrrr tight. Like Luke O’Brien had the blue ones on and they were practically hugging his legs. If that’s the style Derek wants then there’s not much to say but overall if you want them to sell I think he’s gonna need to change them. Or at least throw in something new and exciting besides the fact that theyre made for park. Because otherwise they’re just another slim fit ski pant that people will continue to avoid.

edit, I think sometimes hate threads can be okay. Like this is a good example, he feels a certain way about something and is curious about other peoples opinions. He didn’t jump out the gate saying “fuck syndicate, syndicate sucks derek should quit and never make outerwear again”.

I’m more attracted to support brands that give back to their sports too (having a team).

But hell, if a brand makes a nice looking product, it’s still a nice looking product.

I don’t think it’s lame to buy their stuff.

Quip toothbrushes were also marketed by influencers, but hell they work good and look simple.

I wouldn’t bag on someone for using a quip.

90% of sagas gear was not floral. They were also instrumental in beginning of free skiing taking off. They’ve help fund some

of the best movies, edits and series. Hell [tag=10102]@Wormracer[/tag] was talking about how he was out an outerwear sponsor and saga just sent him a ton of gear.

I can agree that sum of the stuff syndicate has out right now is pretty tough on the eyes, hoodies aren’t bad in my opinion tho. There still a young brand and I’m sure they’ll make some dope stuff in the future

A lot of saga stuff is ugly. Most of us wouldn't deny that. But saga has done a lot of cool stuff in skiing. For instance, the last time TAFT came to my mountain Saga contributed a bunch of prizes. I don't see any redeeming qualities in montec personally

Yeah but that’s not the point I’m making.

Here’s a comparison -

I am more likely to buy a black Amazon essentials sweater that fits well (Montec)

because even though it’s soulless, it looks nice.

than an awkwardly fitting sweater that says “live laugh love on it” from a company that donates a tree for every sale / has community clean up events. (Saga)

I guess the point I’m making is that if you want to support more core brands then cool… but to clown on a brand because its more commercial is a bit ridiculous if it looks way nicer than the “core” brand you’re claiming looks sick.

If someone wants to rip on montecs lack of real community involvement / values then go for it, that’s valid.

what irritates me is when people say it looks bad, meanwhile they’re sporting the ugliest kit imaginable.

They make excellent tall insulated bibs for 6'4 folk like me that are durable for 150 bucks

I was excited for the initial hype but the one word answer to my question I got for the ama on here was enough to change my mind. Sorry guys, can’t phone it in. Especially when you’re new. Sounds petty but it’s how it goes. I like to support core companies but that whole ama just changed my mind entirely. I was so not impressed. It felt like a cash grab.

Personally I'm not clowning on any brand for being commerical. All I'm saying is I wouldn't wear montec or saga cuz I don't like how they look

Saga had a lot of nice outerwear before the floral camo neon garbage. It was fire from like 08-10, even if it's a bit bright compared to current gear

@r3evaluate on ig, I think he’s releasing this seasons pants next week. I got a pair of customs over the summer from him the quality is so fucking sick.

And no dig on anyone else making shit but dude can actually actually sew fr literally no flaws on my pair. 100% worth the price to support a real person vs buying like north face or thrifted pants for me, it’s a bonus I got to pick the design.

Never heard of syndicate before now. It looks so wonderbread and watered out. Not as much as montec though. Seen some montec jackes that look ok. But damn their fit is so tight. Can’t look steezy for shit. They overall screams «i don’t really know what i am doing» but thats my opinion

but still, not as bad as dope outerwear. Thats some 20 years in the dungeon shit.

Even if you don't like their outerwear, they're not the bad guy. Never forget that Orage is the fucking bad guy.

Yeah imo that saga gear looks pretty bad. Not to say that montec looks any good tho. That massive front pocket just looks terrible and i imagine if you would put anything in that pocket it would look even worse

I have some large syndicate pants and they are not skin tight, but I am also a very small guy. The quality is great, but I do think some of the design aspects could be improved. The waist has a snap button system that always comes undone, and the pockets could be bigger, but they do look nice in my opinion. I like the graphite color and the teal logo, and they don’t feel like cheap chinese pants. It is a brand new company, though, so the products should probably improve over the coming years.

Literally out of nowhere, terminated EVERYONES contracts and abandoned ship to completely turn into a different brand. Including B Dog. OUR BDOG. No one does that to my B Dog and gets away with it. Fuck Orage. Imagine if Armada just dropped their entire team and turned into a race ski brand.

(There were a lot more athletes too but I don't remember the whole team.)

Ya they dont seem to have much information about this, some chump named Storm on their chat was not very helpful...

Also yes, Syndicate might seem a little more basic on design fronts, but we are literally talking about someone who is the same age as most kids on this website(mid 20's) and he is pouring his time, effort and personal money into starting a brand that does give back to our industry. Haters gonna hate and thats alright, choose a different outerwear company if you dont like the style.

Question for OP, have you ever started a business or any type of brand? Do you know how much money, time and effort it takes to work with manufacturer's over seas to design, get samples, test and bring a clothing product to market? I say fuck ya for whoever is willing to put the time in to start something new, especially when they are supporting real skiers. Syndicate has literally not made any money yet given its their first year to market but they are spending their own money to support real skiers.

In my opinion this is what we need more of in our industry, skiers creating brands because they believe in it, and using those brands to support and promote real skiers. If its not your style I understand, Syndicate isnt my style either but your sure as shit Im gonna gas up the homies rather than just talk shit because the outerwear is not my personal style choice.

Montec would be cool if they sponsored actual skiers that deserve it, they’re probably making so much money that could be invested in sponsored athletes
