Swix F440 Wax?

rub on wax doesn't penetrate the pores in your bases as much, if at all, so it doesn't last very long. it doesn't really work to keep your bases healthy either. i hot wax my skis every couple weeks, but i'm super particular about how fast my bases are. but if you hot wax maybe once a month depending on how often you ski and how beaten up/dirty your bases you should be fine. the best use for rub on wax is before skiing if you need a quick wax or after a run or two of particularly sticky bases and i have found it will last a day maybe two. definitely worth having just in case, i keep a bar in my car whenever i go skiing. but for your primary waxing def hot wax them if you can

I wax a couple times a year and use rub on for all the other times. If you can afford it or have an iron, hot waxing is def better

Hot wax for sure. A lot of rub on wax wont last a whole day and your bases will still get dried out. I try to hot wax my skis every 5-10 days of being on the mountain and depending on snow conditions or if the weather/temps change significantly.

I'm guessing there's threads on how to hot wax around here, so I will look around for those. I've never done it before, is it fairly straight forward?

yeah you drip the wax it on the ski, MAKE SURE you cover it enough because if you leave the iron on a dry spot for too long you'll burn your ski and can no longer use it.

As a wax manufacturer we suggest you should hot wax about every 4 times skiing and Rub-on wax is really handy for if you forget to hot wax or need a little extra boost during the day.

For Rub-on a lot of wax companies do not produce a long lasting product, simply because they use lower quality ingredients. All our wax products can be applied using hot wax or rub-on techniques. One Rub-on of our wax will last a full day of skiing (when applied correctly).

If you have any questions on how to hot wax your skis, just send me a message I can walk you through the steps or answer any questions you may have.

a regular iron will work as well, its just not as good, because just one spot is heated instead of the whole surface.

Waxing for dummies:

1) drip wax on skis

2) melt and smear it around

3) let the skis hang out for a a little bit with the wax on em

4) scrape the wax off

5) rub whats left in

6) hot box the garage with yummy wax smells
