Switching to Smartphone plan

In December my plan with Verizon ends, I'm looking into getting a smartphone, not necessarily an iPhone. My parents said I'm going to be paying my phone bill when this current one ends since I'm going off to college soon. What phone company has the most inexpensive yet still reliable service? Maybe Boost Mobile? Virgin Mobile? Revol? thanks
 
If you're going to be in college and probably have wi-fi everywhere, it's not very economic to get a smartphone plan. Just get a new iPod touch and a flip phone and you're set
 
I've heard it is pretty decent! Might want to look into it a little bit more though. I've heard as low as $35 a month for unlimited everything!
