Swine flu vaccine ASAP

Ok, my mom just got tickets this morning for us to get the swine flu shot (yes this is how it works around here...) but I told her I did not want to get it. I told her that I don't thrust it and that we don't know the consequences of this vaccine in the long run (because they were made so fast). She is trying to convince me right now. One hour left, what would you do?
 
it'll be fine i'm sure. i've been holding out but i'm going to honduras in the spring so i guess i gotta get one too.
 
Yea I know that, but we really don't know if this rushed shot will cause any negative points to your health in the long run...
 
fuck i wouldn't get it. i've heard a lot of bad shit about this vaccine. you can't just push something out to the public like that with virtually no testing. i'm almost 100% positive you'd be safer getting the swine flu (which probably won't happen even if you don't get the vaccine).
 
I got it over a week ago. I'm still alive. I can still walk both forwards and backwards. There have been no major side effects from the first batch that went out. So far so good.

If you don't want it, don't get it but its quite unlikely that getting it will do you any serious damage.

 
this is what happens when 15 yr olds try and research a vaccination..... i got. my whole family got it. millions of people world wide have got it. they are all alive.

I'm 20 btw. But anyways, I know you're still alive now man, but you trust a shot that has been rushed and not been tested? In 5 years you just might end up infertile or some shit...?!

The regular flu kills about 36,000 a year. The swine flu has about 1000 confirmed deaths. Fuck the vaccine and fuck the media for blowing swine flu up so much.
 
What the fuck are you talking about? Just because you saw more of the swine flu on the news doesn't make it more deadly- it's just another overhyped media thing.

Like SIX was saying, we don't really know the long-term effects of this vaccine.
 
its really not all that bad, i got it, and i also get the vaccine. There is a .01% chance anything bad will happen to you, so i dont see what you are getting your panties in a bunch for.
 
i got mine on monday and ive been feeling pretty shitty since thursday night but i think that might be normal
 
i realize that the vast majority of doctors will get it. I realize that the theoretical risks of getting the vaccine are far less than the risks of actually getting the swine flu, which can be very serious for younger healthy people. I also realize that the vaccine has been given to millions of people so far worldwide without any serious problems, and that as the swine flu rates increase more and more fear mongers are jumping the fence like the bandwagon bitches they are, honestly i dont really care what you guys think about the vaccine, and i dont care if you get it or not.
 
Mercury is already in the fish we eat.... why voluntarily put more in your body. Heavy metals were not meant to be in our bodies.
 
i listen to heavy metals all the time, and im fine, but really, I work in a lab at my school, and the professor i work for got it, on monday (Nov.9) he got sick after it, for only 2 days, and he said he had been battling something for about 2 weeks prior. but he wasnt sure if it was the vaccine or what he had been fighting off earlier
 
for some reason i thought he said the regular flu vaccine kills more people than swine flu.

but anyways, what you just said is what i was trying to say
 
its the fucking flu, u dont need it unless your in risk of dying from it. that means if you have bad lungs or other problems with your body, but if your healthy they fuck it, its a waste of time.
 
i wouldnt do it. the shot has numerous substances that shouldn't be injected into the human body. formaldehyde?! and yeah we eat fish, especially shark that have a shit load of mercury, but it is extremely hazardous and affects your nervous system. h1n1 has been around since the early 1900's, fuck h2n2 also. this virus is only so popular because it has 4 viruses in one. our bodies will be able to counter the virus given enough time, and id rather have my body naturally develop the antibody then have some sketchy shot injected into me.

btw, obviously the show has a small dose of h1n1 in it, so your body can counteract it, but ive heard that the doses are too small, so people might need to get another shot. this whole process just seems too sketchy and rushed.
 
im guessing you havent had it? shit was not mild, Im not saying i would have gotten the vaccine over catching it but regaurdless swine flu is not mild.

the question is not if your alive or not its long time consequences

there were links between vaccine for hepatitis B and multiple sclerosis

so u shouldnt take a vaccine just for the fun of it
 
That applies to the normal flu but the thing that make H1N1 so different is that it seems to target young healthy people with no prior health problems. Also no one actually dies from the flu, they die as a result of prior health complications that become worse with the one-set of the flu.
I don't know about you americans but up here in Canada I've spoken to many doctors (lots of my friends parents are docs and my mom is a nurse) and everyone who I've spoken to has said that getting the shot is a no brainer and that it is stupid for you to not get the shot. Why risk swine?
But then again I've had plenty of friends get sick with swine and not a single one has died. They merely had a really shitty week of being pretty sick.
 
ya i wouldnt get it. i had swine flu im pretty sure, and it wasnt that bad. youll burn it off with a fever.
 
It's no different than any other vaccine, ever.

Not to mention, even if you had an adverse reaction to it, you can't become any more of a waste of space than you already are for being afraid of it in the first place. So really, you have nothing to lose.

its really not like the regular flu shot. the regular flu shot is developed over a 12 month period...before the h1n1 vaccine went into production, there was about three months of lab work. the regular flu shot can fuck you up, people get really bad reactions, however rare that may be...but with something that had a quarter the amount of time put into it, there has been even less time to determine negative effects.

also, normal flu hits infants and the elderly the hardest...those with the weakest immune systems. So it makes sense for them to try and get an immunity boost. h1n1 hits like 18-30 yr olds hardest. this group generally has has very strong immune systems, and yet they are suffering the greatest number of fatalities. So wouldn't it follow that h1n1 doesn't work exactly like seasonal flu? If a strong immune system is no help, then I just don't see how a booster is worth the risk.
