Sw 5 or more

I've done a couple of switch 5s but not consistently and I really want to be able to learn a sw 7 eventually. any tips on spins bigger than a sw 3?

Dear Turpin,
I haven't been able to send a switch 5 since 2001 can you help me?
Even off big jumps my rotation always stalls out at sw/3

i was just going to shut it down for the night but I think I have time for one more.
tell me if you think im right.
1) when you take of your probley pulling your shoulders and arms in like all spin. am i right
if this is the case, often it is. You should focus more on your lower body when spinning switch. most people try to set the speed of there spin with there upper body, not bad but not great . When taking off switch your stance and feet are in a staggered position leaving your upper body with little room to build up rotation(unless you spin blind side). Try pulling or drawing your feet and knees in faster. how fast you draw them in is like how fast you swing your arm to spin forward.

im not sure if that helps but it is a big factor

I will give that a try. I also always get stuck at switch 3. It is weird, I can switch 3 on jumps but I can rarely make it past the 3..and if I do, it gets sloppy..which is also weird cause I can pretty much do switch 3's off the ground..

i have this same problem. i can do sw 5 but i just get really off balance and out of position off the lip. i cant figure out a good way to set it so i can get a smooth and consistent spin

I find it helps to go in with a little bit of a carve no matter how big or small the sw air. Carving in gets you off your out side edges and lets you drift off the jump so to speak. This will help your skis from catching and setting you funny. Also patience is a big factor. CCCR
let me know if this helps

I pretty much relearned all my switch spins above 5 today and the knee thing worked like a charm. I never really thought about it, but after reading it the other day it clicked and made a lot of sense. Thanks Turpin.
