Surfing in Idaho - Nov. 14

No. Winter surfing is a thing. I'm going tuesday if the forecasts stay the same. It's gonna be 35F at most, water's still kind warm in NJ. People surf colder places, like the great lakes and other rivers.

The best surf for us in Canada (Vancouver Island) is in the winter. Wetsuits are so good these days, cold water is never a problem.

I have friends who kite through the winter in new england. I can't afford a dry suit but otherwise I would, although with surfing it's different since youre not trying to stay warm in 20 knots of wind. As soon as the wind starts getting into your suit there's no hope of staying warm, but if it's sunny and you have a suit with slick stormproof covering you can generally go for a little while

if wind cuts through your wetsuit, then your wetsuit is a piece of shit and you need a better suit.

Buncha Kooks, I stopped surfing the wave middle of October. 6 degrees yesterday and I had a friend post a picture of him surfing

Might have to wait for a day above 30 degrees and surf a wave in my 3/2

I use a 4/3 with a 2mm hood/vest and 5mm gloves/booties for fall/winter. Although it would be nice to have 5/4/3 with hood all in one suit.

i love that wave. i would be there in my dry top and pogies everyday if i lived in boise. anybody brought out a long boat on a "surf day"? ive only been there on kayak days in playboats.

I haven't tried river surfing, but surfing in the ocean is one of the hardest sports I've ever done. I can't imagine surfing in this frigid weather. Props for getting out there. We're lucky the kayakers & Idaho River Sports got the Boise River Park going. It's really awesome & now surfers are loving it, too! Thanks to all who worked on this.
