Surface watch lifes mounting

hey, just got a pair of 2010's and was looking for some opinions, picked them up for a wider ski and also for some serious backcountry use. the thing is that i understand since im going backcountry with them a further back mount would be helpful, but i've heard a lot of people mounting these center or like 1cm back, and also i've skied almost exclusivly park skis and am very used to skis mounted 0-1 from center.

there 172's and im like 5'11 170ish for all those that would like to know for reference

heres my opinion.
you should have gotten new lifes, mounted them center, and had the time of your life in the back country
 
i will be using them for some mountain and jumps as well, and we dont get endless powder in the upper peninsula of michigan so a dedicated pow ski is a little overkill on my budget. and i got them cheap so im not complaining lol
 
i ski pennsylvania and have a pair of dedicated park skis to deal with the typical icy east weather... but if it snows more than 2 inches, the newlifes are coming out. they're so much fun in any conditions even ripping the fuck out of groomers and sending the jumps.

I dont think this thread was called was called "What surface pow ski should I get?", I think its called Surface watch lifes mounting.

Not sure about those but my buddy rides the double times and the no times...he has them both mounted at +2.5 of midsole which I believe is -3.5 from dead center?...but he's a heavy guy and def drives the tips hard...hope that helps.
 
i have surface skis but i live in utah so i almost get the endless powder in the winter but where you live if you arent getting endless powder so youll be using them for other stuff too then id mount them center. i am always in the backcountry and i have mine mounted center and im just fine. itll take a little getting used to knowing they are a fatter ski and if you mount them center and go in the pow aa lot itll be some getting used to but once your used to them you will have so much fun! wherever you mount them surface skis are very fun and i bet youll enjoy them no matter what.
 
well at your height I wou;d've gotten the 182's. but I mounted them -3 from center when i had them. it was good for pow and could handle in the park.
