Surface skis

So im looking at getting a pair for next season but everytime I go to buy a pair I always get all freaked out because of the weird sidewalls that they have, like on the one lifes. Its just flat, like straight down, meaning the edges have a direct hit right to the other edge. I heard of some Surface skis that dont have this, like the live life 2's, but is there any other surface pow ski that doesnt have that weird sidewall, maybe a cap??

I never noticed any problems with the Sidewalls or anything that would effect the ski like that with my One Lifes.

I recommend getting a pair. There isn't anything to worry about.

yes but im constantly hitting my tips together and it seems like it would end up getting really bad. its like getting 2 2 by 4s and hitting them side by side. that just seems like a night mare.

That is what a "sidewall" is. If you don't want a sidewall buy a capped ski. Unless I am mis understanding you?

Slanted sidewall construction? As opposed to Cap?

You shouldn't have anything to worry about, or even notice it while skiing. Just keep your feet controlled. If you're constantly crossing your tips, I wouldn't recommend the One Lifes.

Get something with a less aggressive rocker.

Surface tried cap construction a few years back... then we realized it wasn't nearly as durable as the current sidewall construction. Also, surfaces are sealed around the tips; in fact I have yet to chip a pair. And I treat my skis like shit!

I skied a demo pair of Live Life's last month and didn't see any issues with the sidewalls or topsheets (other than normal wear). Really enjoyed them.
