Surface park skis snap vs no snap

aight yo let's settle this surface dispute!

If u have snapped a a pair of surface park skis say so and post a pic for proof

If u haven't say u haven't and about how much you've used them
 
the only issues ive had with their skis were warrantied. solid company with great owners. theyve just gotten some heat from members on this site who werent mature enough to solve it on their own. any park ski will break if you slam them against metal all day and don't take proper care of your edges. make sure you detune and dull you edges as much as you can if you want to ski rails hard, regardless of what kind of ski you are on.
 
I loved my nine life's, I went hard on them for 2 seasons... then I snapped one, but I was expecting it cause I was hittin urban. They still hookd me up with a brand new pair of joystick these skis extremely cheap, would def buy from them again.
 
good friend has no times, he's been constantly worried of a break but hasn't encountered any real problems.
 
I used my no times for a season and a half before they snapped. For the time I had them I loved them. Surface is a super legit company, and I would easily buy them again.
 
I haven't hit many rails with my Double Times but they seem so solid that I'm not worried about breaking them ever. If you detune your edges underfoot your ski will last longer if you are slaying rails all day. I wouldn't worry about snapping any of their skis unless you are one huge guy!

 
I have double times from two seasons ago before they made them thicker and mine are holding up well aside from some topsheet damage and a tiny bit of delamination that i just superglued and clamped back together.
 
Double times are the burliest out of surfaces park line. Wider for all mountain cruising and stiff for jumps. It's a fun ski.
 
my friend's brother snapped a surface X skullcandy collab ski. I skied them though, and they were really fun

Since surface is still in business they've got to be doing something right. And if people are stilling buying they're skis then it may just be a large crowd having the same brand and eventually someone is going to complain. People complain about the suspects all the time, but alot of people buy them because it's a quality ski. The more people that own them the more people will experience a problem. Plain and simple.
 
Im a little worried about no times. Get the double times to be safe. I have never snapped a surface ski that was fresh. I have snapped a pair mounted twice/three times(100 bucks and what do you expect). However i havent had any problems with new ones.
 
Dammit mobile. Anyways, rode the kids ones for like 2 seasons and loved em, but finally peeled the top sheet and edge apart at the tip after a bad tranny find
 
The general consensus on NS seems to be that you should avoid the no time/nine life string of skis,(I myself have snapped a pair of nine's.) But the double times/watch lifes or whatever have decent durability.
 
I have had a lot of good with my Anthony B no time. So much fun i have used the for 1 season mostly on rails and i only have one edge crack. I would tell anybody to buy them.
 
This debate make me laugh and want to vomit simultaneously every time I hear it. When you abuse skis the way park skiers do, they're bound to snap eventually. This is particularly true for a price point ski that doesn't have the same construction as a more expensive ski. I was in the Windells demo shop this summer and snapping Surface ski was NOT a problem. These skis got used and abused harder than any ski ever should, and it simply wasn't an issue. On top of this, Mike and the guys were some of the most level headed, greatest guys I've dealt with in this industry. What you can take out of this: 1. Buy a cheap, price point ski for park and you can expect to break it at some point and 2. Surface is a badass company that deserves the support of the freeskiing community.
 
There are companies out there that make way more durable pricepoint skis. There have been many, MANY members on NS alone who have snapped Nines and No times, and you never see epidemics like that for other companies pricepoint skis. Its funny how every time this Surface argument comes up all the Surface fans say "oh well any ski will break if you ride park." True, but with the nine life especially it was just ridiculous how many people snapped their pairs.

I like Surface too, but their pricepoint skis (no time/nine life or whatever it happens to be) have always had subpar durability.
 
I've had 171 and 181 double times, 184 new lifes.

The 171 double times are now my backup skis, rode them hard, and they are missing a LOT of edge, they have a groove into the base from rails. No problems here.

My 181 double times are still my park skis. Have some edge left but not a lot, still fun skis just STIFF. Funny thing with these is that i caught a tip going onto a box, and the topsheetpulled back like 8 inches long and a inch wide. It was funny skiing around with it curled up. I glued it back down and its been unnoticeable since then.

The 184 new life were super fun, i really enjoyed them, rode them all the time, even in the park and they were great. Except that I tore the bindings out. Remounted them and tore them out again. AAAANNNND remounted and tore them out again. Thats 3 times, kinda sucks. I'm an aggressive skier but am not a big guy (5"8 145 pounds) just don't really know what happened with them.

But i've never snapped any!
 
Have had 3 pairs of surface the past 4 years...there amazing and hold up really really well. I have put them through the ringer each pair. That being said..I don't really do rails anymore so slamming skis against metal all day isn't a big issue for me. I recommend surface to anyone who asks about skis.
 
I have double times and they are really thick and burly. But they are super light still. I love mine and i only have a tiny bit of topsheet damage but that does like nothing to the performance. Super fun ski i would recommend surface to anyone
 
both of my friends have surface one lifes, and they both had a delam in the same spot ( the nose and the edge got all indented and started a delam) . thats why i like 3/4 edge wrap
