Sorry to mods for not posting in the videos but, you can't upload anything over 300 megs which is hilarious and for some reason it won't take vimeo embed codes...

It is a bit lengthy to as It is supposed to serve as a footage reel. Hope you still enjoy! I'll have more coming in a week or two.

That. Was. Awesome! I really like it man! Awesome song choice in my opinion, sick shots and awesome filming, and overall good surfing!

nice job man. First drop was awesome!

Couple things i'd fix though:

If you really want to make it a reel, keep it 2-3 minutes tops. I know its more of a highlight of your trip but i lost interest after seeing similar shots for about 3-4 minutes.

the heli shots have to go, WAY too much jello in them. I'm guessing you shot on a HDSLR?

colors were very inconsistant. Some had uber-crushed blacks, some were blown out saturation wise, and some looked really good. I wish the look you had going on at 2:54-2:59 was consistant.

Loved it dude! I can agree with above that the colors were inconsistent along the way but I didn't really care to be honest. I feel like 2:53-2:59 is a bit too flat for my liking but to each his own!

Definitely got some great shots in there that's for sure! It's amazing what you can produce with such small cameras anymore.

I was going to purchase the AF-100 yesterday but decided to go with the GH2 and a few extra add ons. Sold my HMC40. I'll be running with a GH1 and GH2 with some external recorders and such.

Until I start making some real money, it's not a bright idea to dump 4+g into a camera. For the most part, my clients are very happy with the GH1/2 material I've provided them with. Looks good on TV too.

Sorry shouldn't have called it a reel, its more of a lengthy edit...

Colors are supposed to change...where there is rain it's obviously different. I was playing with different color programs. Go read the description on Vimeo.

Yes, it was a DSLR...I know it's jello-y but I dropped a video of 1/4 of my footage. Saved the best for later and my real reel.

Don't worry guys. I'm aware of the flaws. Just sharing the video.

Yeah as I mentioned below I was playing with two different color programs. Davinci and Looks. And trying to get different looks in different areas. The lighting changed alot while I was shooting being as Maui is super windy. Most the time my footage is much more balanced. Davinci is just a totally different beast!

i absolutely loved that!! especially all the shots from hookipa with the windsurfers. damn i miss maui, only a few more months..

You from there? I loved it down there! The other surf shots where from Hana Monu i think is how you pronounce it? Its a bay somewhere on the way to Hana. Then we shot some in Hana as well.

I'm hoping to move there someday.

haha no im from vancouver! i go to maui every year around the holidays though, spoiled i know.. :( i feel like i have such a connection to it though, such a magical place. if you moved there i would be beyond jealous! did i see some matt meola in there? love his surfing!

damn man! thats a great edit, ive been surfing cali lately aand just got so stoked!

Hope you dont mind I posted it to facebook...

Sweet! It is Matt Meola for a good chunk of it, and his buddy Taylor. Alot of the filming was for the movie by OXBOW Walls of Perception! You should check it out.

There are also shots of local and famous windsurfers including Jason Polakow and Levi Siver. Never got to shoot Kai Lenney, the kid is blowing up right now.

The lifestyles of the long haired dude are Duane DeSoto. The start of the second song is all Hokipa, and the surfer is Will, not sure of his last name, but he's friends with the guy I stayed with.

I'll be sure to check that out! Sounds sweet. I don't know of any of the windsurfer guys but when I'm out there hopefully they'll be a big day so I can watch them flare up! I'm usually on the west side so I usually check out Honolua

Cool. I stuck to Stand Up Paddling down there this time. We were around Launiupoko Beach Park most of the time

Dude I was just in Maui at the beginning of July and this video makes me want to go back soooooo badddd. I learned to kiteboard and I can honestly say I could see myself living there and kiting all the time just like I ski right now. Hawaii = breathtaking.

I did get the chance to live there this winter. Its a truly amazing place you did a really awesome job job of capturing the islands variety. Dispute what 1337 said I really like your cc, you fit the color to the mood of the shot and island which is more important then consistency. Bummer you didn't get to shoot Kia or his brother Ridge, ridge is 12 and he is one of the most fluid riders out there. The only thing I would have done is change the first song, but thats really just preference but it has been used in that industry. Were they first surf shots off sugar cove?

might not have any more reels coming out for awhile as I'm mostly editing, but I can post my edits up too!
