large pads of snow we accumulated

Cattle gates Flat to Down 24'

Box Line: 10'flat 20' down and 10' up-10'flat-20'

Weather: Sunny and Hot 70 degrees yesterday, and sunny thurs, FRIDAY OPEN RIDE Superpark Features all day. Saturday cloudy 20% chance of rain, Sunday, coudy 30% chance of rain. We are also by Lake Superior and that helps push the rains inland! like past years SuperParks

super park sucks. just got back from the hill. worst set i have ever seen at a "super park".
they need to change the name to "stuper park" or "dissapointment park". maybe a "waste of a 8 hour drive park."
i would even bother. on my way home.

considering the weather i think everything looked good and was set up good. can't bitch about it cause its almost a miracle there even having the event. Also the jump is so huge

You guys can bitch all you want... we are luck my General Manager even let SuperPark happen... Mother Nature was 70 degree all this week and we had to beg to still do it!...... Now that the contest Everyone had a good time I'm glad we did it.... Be Glad we even opened otherwise you'd be picking your butt and playing video games this weekend.

^ i didnt mean to hate man, I've seen video from the past events and every feature was nuts. The jump was excellent, tons of boost. I was speaking more of the overall rail jam features, personally i think that having a down flat long down as the craziest rail didn't amount to the rails i had seen in the past. none the less, superpark was a sucess and everyone come next year!

I agree that some SuperParks of past have been better rails, or better jumps, but we too are victims of ski hill management that refuses to buy new rails and keep trying to re-weld and re-use old ones. We also would have had a few more options if we had larger snow piles.

I apologize for my rant, but I think people forget all the sleep lost and time spent by those it took to make this happen!

i have only one complaint about superpark this year. Everywhere said 25 dollars for skiing saturday and when i got there it was 50 dollars. so at least let people know to bring 50 dollars.

Actually the park was a joke for how much they hyped it up a few weeks ago and there was more then enough snow there to make it good. On friday it was horrible they had like 2 rails kind of set up but did not take care of anything so it just fell apart. Then they had 2 jumps the first would of been ok except for the huge dirt patch and ice in front of it because the "park crew" must not groom things in the morning or night. They then went out and filled in the dirt with the cat and completely flattened out the lip so it was like a shitty skier cross jump. Also on friday the big jump was shit. The lip was maybe 6 feet wide at the top and the in run was rough as hell and with huge lumps coming in to it. Real safe for a 65 footer. Also the jump had no pop cause the boarders bitched about pop so it was like you were falling from the lip of the jump. I mean come on how hard is it to make a nice park in michigan... Minnesota, ohio and indiana can pull it off. Saturday they did have it a little better but thats because somebody spent an hour with a shovel on the jump to make it better. Seriously no excuse for resorts not to take care of their crap or put in some effort. It is SUPERPARK right?

I can personally say that Super Park at Marquette used to be sick about 4 to 5 years ago. Since then I have heard its gone down hill pretty quickly. I can relate to management tying your hands when it comes to taking the park to the next level.
With that said i think the new end of the year Super Park should be held at Mad River Mountain in Ohio. Their park was sick all winter and they definitely have the materials and room to challenge the Super Park of old.
Marquette has had a good run, but I think its time for someone new to step in.

I am done arguing on the internet, the flyers and posts all said $25 lift, $25 SuperPark ticket w/o costume

All the 70 weather the last month had a lot to do with the quality of SuperPark, and if Next year someplace thinks they can do it better... Feel Free, Because listening to all you little whiners definately doesn't make us want to do SuperPark again!

As far as the Edit goes.... Very Nice Work!

Lots of good Marquette riding, before we lost all our snow!

Mike Kings Kang Flip.... SICK!

moving super park sounds like a good idea as long as places have enough snow. As for the park last weekend, It was a dissapointment. I can relate to having to set everything up last minute and not really having much prep time because that happened to us downstate at Cburg for our "super park" we got the go ahead the evening before the event. Sounds like MM's management needs to make decisions with still enough time in order to prepare for an event like Midwest Super Park. An event that big shouldnt be decided upon last minute.

I think that overall superpark this year was a blast. Yeah there were not as many features as there have been in years past, but for the amount of snow that they had, it was sick. The jump was one of the most fun that I have hit in a long time, and the rails weren't bad. I'm definately glad I made the trip up for it, nice work guys!

I'm only bummed I can't get your karma to go any lower. We had a bad snow year and a HOT spring for Marquette. I was actually wearing sandals all week to the hill. Plus, like skibmc said, management pretty much gives nothing to the park crew.

If you're so ass-sore about what we have to deal with, don't come around

Thats the point. Brandon does a fine job organizing the event and putting it on, and there was enough snow to get by. The problem is the management. you need a park crew to at least set up the rails right so people dont go to the hosptel. make shit look nice. get a cat driver that knows what he is doing. the jump could of been sweet if there was a good take off built. the rails could have been set up a lot better.

i dont mean to bitch, but when i have been to ever superpark and drive 7+ hours to get there and then to watch the parks get worst and worst in the last few years, sucks. i know this years wasnt so bad compared to most parks in michigan, but compared to the first few superparks it sucked and was a wast.

either stop calling it superpark and promoting a sick park or get someone who knows how to make a good park.

p.s. Brandon does a lot of work for this event and i appreciate it. this is not aimed at him but at the hill.

Thank you for your opinion and I think that was an accurate portrait of how I have felt over the last few years of SuperPark. And when I put all the efforts into running an event and I have no control over the cat driver or rail selections because MM wont make new rails , REALLY SUCKS

I have been thinking about taking my name off the event, but it tough to do after doing it for 7 yrs running! And then if management still does the event and it sucks worse, then people will still think I had something to do with it! It a NO WIN situation!

All I try to do is run the contests fairly, have sweet prizes to give away, sweet trophies, and a good time with the theme!

Ok JDUKE, read my comment. You guys keep complaining about the weather and the snow. I thought there was more then enough snow, yeah not as much as previous years but still enough. And yes this is probably all management that does not put together a park crew or does not allow them to do what needs to be done. And like NTS said it may be kinda good for a michigan park but nothing was set up well or groomed well on friday and sat, each year superpark gets worse. I dont know about you but i like parks to be taken care of and well built. Try riding out west or out east, that should be a goal maybe not as big but at least taken care of. IF PEOPLE DONT COMPLAIN and BITCH michigan parks are going to keep going in the wrong direction. So sure Duke be grateful for what you have but enjoy your superpark getting worse each year because if no one steps up and complains or whoever lives up there does not voice a strong opinion things will get worse. And F Karma points

you answered your own statement.

I used to work at Keystone, and know members of the park crew. It takes hundreds of hours of man power to CONSTANTLY maintain a park. Albeit midwest parks are smaller, but if you expect a high caliber park out of a small resort, it comes down to $$. MM isn't exactly a 4 star resort making tons of cash. It takes more than four guys to build and maintain a park, and allowances of $ from the mountain manager.

resorts out west and east dump huge amounts of money, man and cat hours into their parks, and their marketing reflects that.

but anyways, we can keep going back and forth about this, but Im just going to let this dog lie

Hey Croney...

ANY possibility you could convince Shelby to come back next year for superpark for a week or two and build it up? The Superparks he built pretty much rivaled any park out west at that time.

Not much you can do about 80 degree weather the day before, hence why we didnt make the drive this year. If Shelby made it back to build the park, Id be back no matter what.

Just my two cents. That kid bitching about everything... the management at MM hasn't been cooperative at all with park building and maintenance for quite some time now. Racing brings in money, not 50 kids in tall tees trying to score a free pass.

Hey Reed-

I was talking to Vern Yesterday, he said we wants to take the "SUPER" out of SuperPark, (too many kids getting hurt, Vern has been to the hospital multiple times for serious injuries for three seasons now!

VERN's Idea! An end of the year Slopestyle, and mini job contest! He want to try to get more people to do the contests, not just the top ten skiers!

Whatever he wants I Say... I am sooo friggin busy with RAILWERX and THE COMPOUND, this is the perfect time for me to back off and let him mess things up all on his own, and have to take the blame for it!

As far as Shelby goes, He is coming back May1ish but hell if I were him I wouldn't want to come home for any days to build jumps when the Season in Tahoe is kicking!
