you can find them them around. but about the russion ones. im not sure if its true for movie cameras as it is for sitll cameras. but for still cameras a tun of the russian stuff is crap. the quality control is really shit over there(i am told). i know cameras like the Kiev 88(russian copy of hassleblad) are prity bad and dont last long.

My brother got one off of ebay a few months ago. It was only 5 dollars, but when he got it, it didn't work. So my advise, don't buy a super 8 that is super cheap or you will find it is super crap. Spend the extra money, and you get one with neat features, and maybe one that acually works, which will be well worth it. As for camera brands, search for Bolex, I think someone told me that was a good quality brand, but I'm not totally sure.

 
I have a Canon. It's super rad, automatic focus and shit... and I've shot on an older one, I forget the name. Ebay is def. easy to find cameras. Just type Super8 camera in the search category.
