Oh and I am really not a Mercedes fan, but damn that GT looks sexy!

f1 isn't sports car racing ya jizzdrinker

Actually dumbass F1's are cars meant for sport, therefore sports cars. They are not Grand Touring monobody cars, but they are sports cars. Ya jizzdrinker.

meh, I would say formula 1 is more like go-carts on crack

Racing sports cars implies the car is a street legal car that has been modified for racing, either by the manufacturer or racing team. Race car's, such as F1, NASCAR, Indycar, are cars built purely for the purpose of racing.

Often time's there are strict regulations to ensure Sports cars are not race cars.

nah. they are open wheel race cars. Sports car racing is based off road car variant cars. Nascar is called " stock car" since they are really just a tube frame covered in tin with no working lights or anything on them. Open wheel cars are exactly that.... they have open wheels with pushrod suspension most of the time. Prototype racing is a mix between open wheel and sports car racing.

close but not really. Sports car racing has become hardly anything like their road going variants. SUPGER GT adopted the DTM racing standard but have no restriction in their aerodynamics where DTM is restricted therefore making it the worlds fastest sports car racing. They are Carbon Monocoque with carbon tube frames with carbon body panels with engines that are not what is found in any road going car of the company they are from for the most part. The only exception is the GTR as it uses the block from its road going car in SUPER GT. GT500 cars were v8's for the most part until recently. GT300 is a crap shoot with all different variants of engines and layouts. The CRZ is actually twin turbo v6 with electric drive... nothing like the road variant offered by Honda, same goes for the Prius in GT300.

I actually used to race single seater race cars. Its probably the best thing you can ever do. The adrenaline rush you get from it is 10000x what you would ever get for skiing. I would still be shaking the next day at work i was so pumped.

do you mean open wheel cars? Most race cars are single seat now a days. Single seat race car is a term from the past.

The gt3 cup car team I work for is faster than all the local open wheel formula cars :) We set the track record last weekend.

Single seater is the term i and everyone i have ever known in motorsport has used to describe British Formula Ford and any other single seater class. Yes every race car has only one seat but cars that can fit 2 or more are usually reffered to as saloon cars where I'm from.

I bet a GT3 would be way faster than a normal single seater. Single seaters are still the way better form of racing IMO.

Pretty sick but if we're talking about the fastest cars in their class why the fuck is 90% of the video slow-mo?

because they're mega fast so if it's not in slow-mo you can't see them

F1 trumps all.

ok, but that is an entirely different type and style of racing..... so there is really no point in saying this here?

ive watched every single f1 race since 2003, so I am well aware of this so called "f1" racing. I would haul my ass out of bed at 3 in the morning before PVR or torrents existed to watch F1.

No one watches Super GT so I thought I would share because it has no stakes in the west as far as motorsports go. I work in the Motorsports industry so I want to share with NS'ers some of the stuff that might get missed or oddball stuff.

These types of posts make me not want to post about car related stuff around these parts, too many people talking out of their ass.

Sorry If I am coming off as a bit harsh.

Agreed about it just being a different type of racing. Endurance, Sports cars/prototypes, IndyCar, Rally, Nascar. They're all just different, its hard to really say one "trumps all". personally I think RallyCross and IndyCar are where its at right now in terms of pure entertainment/close racing, F1's just not doing it for me now, old races on youtube beat the current stuff.
