Super Bowl XLVI - Pats vs. Giants

Well we have a 2007 rematch, should be a good game. Tom Brady had a off game against a good Ravens defense, and the Giants defense is on fire right now.

Brady ties John Elway for most superbowl appearances, this being his 5th.

So will Brady, Gronkowski and company shred the Giants defense or will Eli be on his way to his second superbowl and one upping Peyton?

Can't wait for super bowl Sunday, and I'm not even a fan of these teams.

because all good multipagers have something relevant to everyone's interests

im starting this thread off right.

I dunno, i think it will be very close the pats have come close to losing to some terrible teams this year.

that game was the perfect championship game, both those teams deserved to be there and they proved it the defense was just insane....49ers were what 0 - 11 or 0 - 12 on third down?

i wish the Niners won, they had there chances. The super bowl is going to suck this year. I'm not going to watch it.

im a giants fan so of course i'm saying the giants are gonna win, but to whoever said this superbowl is gonna suck, i hope you're kidding. Repeat of super bowl XLII and if it plays out anything like their game in the regular season, it's going to be insane. Lets go G-MEN.

Tom Brady is going to tea bag Eli, fuck the giants. Its gonna be like 56-7 pats, pats are gonna curb stomp the giants.

Haha my roommate said the same thing to me. But, the giants aren't that good, i cant believe they beat GB...

Now I'm not a huge football guru, but I just think that the Giants had more drive to win that year. They were the underdog against the Falcons, Packers, and Pats. They just kept carrying their moment that year. And sadly, I missed last week's game. But Pierre-Paul, Nicks, Manningham, Jacobs, and Manning...... 'nuff said.

Still so fucking mad that the Niners blew it. Had Williams not fucked up twice the Niners would have won. Anyway, I want the Giants to win and know they will win. Their defense is far too strong and Eli is on his shit right now.

i think it'll be a good game. gotta root for the pats on this one. i think it'll be a high scoring game too

First of all to everyone who says the Giants don't deserve to be there. They went on a 3 game winning streak in the regular season to get to the playoffs. Bet the falcons, packers, and 49ers as underdogs. Eli has proved he is an elite quarterback and one of the best in the clutch.

Second if you think that is a boring game you obvious don't appreciate football enough. that was a great defense game on boths sides and a few big plays. Ever heard the saying "Defense wins championships".

And you guys are assuming the patriots are going to kill the giants. the same thing was assumed last time they played. if you some of you dont recall 3-7 coming into the fourth quarter with a final score of 14-17. it is going to be a defensive battle and low scoring but close game again

Giants over Patriots 20-17

My prediction is that the game will remain very close until kickoff, with the patriots subsequently rolling to an easy victory.

Itll be a Blowout, GIants are going to cream them and I'm hardly even a Giants fan. Just cover the Gronk and Blitz and thatll be the end of that.

Eli is going to destroy the Patriots defence

Beat, the Jets, Cowboys, Falcons, GB, and the 49ers in a row..... how can you claim they're not that good? They're rabid right now. I'm lovin it! Most determined team in the league!

gonna a be a good game. pats d will contain the rush and thats really what the giants want to do.

giants will also make it tough for brady.

but 2007 has no meaning for this game as not a whole lot of players remain starters for the pats, who pretty much turned over their whole roster since then in order to win another super bowl.

pats have to find another corner. it was almost a joke how boldin blew up edelman on that last drive. you cannot expect edelman to cover someone like that. maybe a 3rd-4th stringer on a good day but boldin? cruz? i am not sure about that.

green bay had a shitty defense, the pats defense can be really shitty to...Eli can throw the ball well, and victor cruz and hakeem nicks are pretty freaking awesome.

and the Giants defense is playing lights out right now, seriously they held the 9ers to no third down conversions, they shut down green bay who averaged 35 points a game in the regular season, and they made the falcons look like a bitch team by holding them to 2 points.

This game will be good, and it'll be a close one.

. they have so much more hype to win, the giants will come to play, but i dont think theyll want it as much and we all know how far some inspiration can go

getting in here. patriots win in a high scoring game. brady plays much better, avenging his loss. eli tries the last minute heroics again on a final drive in the last minutes of the game and Julian Edelman gets his first pick of his career, icing the game.

patriots have the 2nd worse overall defense in the leauge- Giants d is absolute beast mode right now and the pats arent playing that hot as of late.
Giants win 35-24

stats dont mean shit...durrr pats give up the most yards per game yadda yadda yadda

the patriots defense gave up and average of 21.4 points per game this season

the giants defense gave up and average of 25 points per game this season

everyone can keep their retarded stats about how many yards the pats give up because they dont understand the defensive strategies of bill belichick...yards per game doesnt mean shit, you dont win games with yards. I'll stick with the fact that they give up less points per game than the coveted nyg defense

Pats defense won the game last night and on multipled times saved the offense/special teams from their stupid errors by only allowing field goals instead of touch downs

gonna be a great superbowl... patriots 35-28

i wouldn't mind seeing pierre-paul, kiwanoka, tuck, umenyiora sack brady about 7 times....right now the giants are the hottest team, they had win or be done games since beating the jets at home in week 14, they've beaten the jets, cowboys, falcons, packers, 49ers and now there is only one team standing in their way.

On the other side of things, you just have to know it's Tom Brady, this guy wants this superbowl, if you saw him when he scored the QB sneak touchdown last night when he jumped over the linemen and then he celebrated with a huge gronk spike...when do you ever see Brady do that? the dude wants it and if he is hot the Giants are fucked because there is no stopping Brady when he is on fire.

I'm going to have to go with the Giants defense in this game...Giants win 24 - 21 off the foot of Lawrence Tynes.

You beat three mediocre teams, one decent team, and surprisingly one very good team. Dont get too excited.

I am calling the 49ers decent because they have a stellar defense, and an offense that can be ranked between poor-mediocre. Alex Smith had a decent season, but the team was carried by the defense. Without it they would not have made the play offs.

And determination is going to be on both sides. The Patriots are playing for MHK. Bill and Brady want redemption. The Giants want to prove the nay-sayers wrong. Right now, there is no clear favorite. The Giants have Cruz, Nicks, and Manningham. The Patriots have Welker, Gronk, and Hernandez.

Except the Giants secondary is hands down the better of these 2 teams. If Giants control Wilfork, they control there destiny.

The Pats beat the Broncos, a joke of a team as it is, and a respectable Ravens team, both D lines don't come close to the Giants front 4. And Brady admitted that after the G-Men won last night.

Brady has been shaky in the playoffs as of late, but i see him rebounding and really performing on the biggest stage in professional football. As is the case in seemingly every Patriots game, the biggest match-up is the Pats TEs vs NYs LBs and Safeties. Against the Ravens, 16 of Brady's 22 completions were against a linebacker or safety combination. Gronk and Hernandez are matchup nightmares, and when you eliminate one the other flourishes. The Pats have also been lining either pof them up in the backfield, sometimes handing Hernandex the ball and sometimes sending them on wheel routes matched up against linebackers. This has the potential to lead to some explosive plays for the Patriots tight ends.

Also, BJGE ran the ball really well against a staunch Ravens run defense. He was so effective because of the personnel match-ups. The Patriots would line up in the gun or other obvious passing formations, forcing the Ravens to counter with passing oriented personnel by adding a defensive back and taking out a linebacker of defensive lineman. The draw play could be really effective against the Giants aggressive pass-rush of Canty, JPP, and Umenyoira (SP?).

The Giants have a clear advantage in the secondary and with the pass-rush. Both are on fire for the Giants, and the Patriots have had a really hard time countering the Giants pass-rush as of late. Brady needs to get the ball out of his hand early out of the gun to guys like Welker, Hernandez, and Branch. If not, he's going to be pressured heavily. Defenses have thrown Brady out of his rhythm by playing tight man coverage, pressing the Pats receivers at the line. this throws receivers of their routes and out of sync with Brady, which is troublesome.

It promises to be an incredible game and is really a toss-up.

^ this kids analysis is pretty damn spot on

Especially the 2 TE sets that the patriots usually use as a pass down (like 95%) of the time. but last night they used it on the BJGE touchdown run and a huge 15 yard BJGE rush for a first down...this is going to be huge against countering the giants pass rush
