Anyone seen it? Opinions? Just got back and FUCKING loved it, mainly for the kid vibe (i.e. ET/Sandlot/Goonies) it gave off.

just saw it. i thought it was really good. personally i found it more of a comedy than anything

"waitress can we get some more fries, my friend is fat"

and then when the main kid goes to slap a hoe.... interesting add in i gotta say

saw it earlier and I have to say I enjoyed it. Kept me on edge. Normally in shitty movies i drink too much and leave to pee, but I stayed in the theatre and held my piss for this one.

I thought it was weird. It tried to be like kid oriented but at the same time they had the thing eating a fucking leg...

Idk I thought that was weird. It wanted to be like half E.T. half horror scifi

How have I not heard of this? Trailer gave me chills, Abrams with Spielberg...? Hope it comes to theaters soon.

I love The Mist. It's a very good adaptation of a very underwhelming novel, and also, much darker. Original ending is hopeful... you know what the movie has.

The Mist had a better premise/plot... the acting was just horrific. I lol'd at the end when the dude got on his knees and screamed "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Also when that cunt got shot.

I couldn't agree more, I thought the original short story was amazing, definitely one of my all time favorites. I didn't even bother to see the movie because after reading synopses and stuff I could tell there was no way it would live up to short story. "Underwhelming" is hard for me to imagine.

Super 8 is taking all its concepts from the 100s of other crappy predictable "hollywood blockbuster" style sci-fi movies. Nothing is original.

I'd rather watch a decent movie based on a good book than a shit movie thats "original."

Super 8 : Loved it. Good good acting, great plot, some really hilarious endearing moments. The train crash scene is unreal, the battle is well done. Must say it was amazing.

Also: their movie that was showed during the credits made ma laugh really hard.

Steven Spielburg did really well. Can't wait to see Cowboys & Aliens (I'm a little kid at heart....and I love Daniel Craig and {younger} Harrison Ford, even though he's old now)

Semi spoiler if you haven't seen it

somebody probably said this already, but I'm to lazy to read the thread. sooo

I thought it was a super good movie, except it is ludicrous that when the truck hits the train, the train is sent flying into the air and is scattered all over the place, and yet the damage to the truck is not very extensive, and the driver survives. That was a bonerkill

The best movie i have seen in a long time. Went to go see it with my girlfriend, and she fucking loved it. Real suspensful, and it was really different than any movie i've seen in a long time. So epic.

THIS. I discussed with a few people the possibility of a single truck ruining a train....highly unlikely. That being said, the crash was still magnificent. And the argument could be made that the force of the train was enough to launch it into the air after one car derailed. Who knows

This is true but I feel that that plot hole was incredibly overpowered by the fucking awesomness of the crash itself

I didn't like it, it was like a weird love child of E.T and Cloverfield.

It was trying to be scary and be a coming of age story at the same time.

I absolutely loved it. Cloverfield/Et (i guess)/ stand by me. I didn't really get what/why it had all the bodies just hanging upside down. But i though it was all very well shot and although the plot was kinda similar to other movies i liked it.

saw the second half of it, if the ending was more suspenseful it would have been a really solid movie, but overall it was pree good from what I caught of it

you can totally tell the spieldberg influence the movie had, the whole kids perspective is a classic speildberg move. Overall i found the movie really suspenseful for like the type of movie it is, the ending wasnt that great but i found that like coming of age theme to be pretty interesting and i liked how the portrayed it with the locket thing. Also i think its actaully somewhat a life story of JJ abrams like obviously not the whole alien part but like i think the main character was a reflection of JJ as a kid. Overall id give it like a B i think it lacked some depth toward the end of the movie
