Sun Valley opens freestyle park, tubing hillThe Associated PressUpdated: 12/21/2009 11:32:19 PM MST
Sun Valley, Idaho »[/b] [/b]Sun Valley Resort has opened a new terrain park featuring a huge jump line, 13 rails, boxes and jibs. The resort opened the new area at Dollar Mountain this weekend, as well as a new tubing hill. Director of Sales and Marketing Jack Sibbach says there has been some resistance from traditional skiers, but he's pleased to see the interest generated by the new feature.
So this makes Alta and Snowbird the only two places in the country that don't have any sort of park.... sigh

SPT designed too.

I went to Sun Valley in 9th grade, and was stoked to be going to a big resort with a park. I got there, and spent the first day looking for it. I guess I was seven years early,

yeah. its all brand new rails and shit too. its pretty legit. stoked that sunvalley finally steped up to the plate, they claim they want to join the top resorts in the us parkwise and with sunvalleys amounts of money i wouldnt be suprised to see it happen. theve been open like a week or two and theve already have a pretty legit park for their first year.

false snowbird does have a terrain park alta and deer valley dont have terrain parks there both also skiing only. deer valley sucks though, like really hard

Seriously? That was an epic fail. Snowbird has a park. And there are dozens of resorts across the country that don't have parks. For example, Turner Mountain in Libby, MT? No park. Mad River Glen, VT? No park... the list could go on and on.

yea and alta actually had a park before and have(unless they sold them or blew them up at chads gap) boxes and rails. I worked there 06-07 when they officially said they didnt need a park cause there whole mtn is a park, which is true, but they had a 2 box 1 rail line that was actually really fun. Down rail to flat box to a nice long flat down box. Nothing insane but was set up well. Such a shame because on the down days it would be fun to hit some jumps and a few rails.

i agree that stating that alta and snowbird are the only 2 resorts without a park is a silly thing to say... but snowbird hasnt had a real park in 2 years now... they stopped building a park on the lower part of the mountain and all they build now is a gay little stunt ditch and some very dinky boxes.

o im sorry i was talking about resorts people actually want to ski, my bad. Deer Valley does have a mini park and no Snowbird as of yet has no plans to set up any kind of park. They sold their pipe cutter, so no pipe (even a crappy one) and as long as the snow keeps falling in sufficient inches they will not put in any sort box, rail or jump. If we have a horrible year they might put some stuff up but who wants that. This is from the Bob Bonar the GM.

that sucks it's at dollar, means you can really only ski park there because the rest of the mtn sucks balls

if they put it somewhere on baldy or on warm springs where the pipe used to be then it'd be sick, but i'd hate to have to ride dollar all day

Baldy-$82

Dollar-$40

True, Dollar is a shitty mountain. But $40 dollars a day is a STEAL if they had a killer park and that's all you were interested in riding.

Brian Callahan is running the show over there. Formerly of Breck, I think he's going to do a good job over there.

even better season pass prices.

baldy season pass $2000

dollar $300

id much rather it be on dollar. yeah its a shittier mountain. but if your looking to just ski park i see nothing wrong with it.

sun valley had a park last year. granted, it wasnt exactly enjoyable, but they had like 3 kickers and a box or two under the pipe. and two years ago they had a little park at dollar i believe? i remember a line of jumps right on the right side of the hill.

haha i still buy a 12 and under ticket from the machine at baldy and cover the writing with my thumb when i show it to them...it's worked for the past 5 years but i think they might finally start catching on

All of you guys arguing about snowbirds park, there is none. Maybe they will set up their crappy one by the halfpipe but as of now there isnt one.

I hit it yesterday, Its a nice park esp with the big booters up top. nice addition to the super pipe on baldy, just a pain when you have to travel, even if the bus is free.

just got home (sun valley) for xmas break gonna scope this park tomorrow, super stoked all i've been hearing is good things!!

It looks like this mtn. barley has any snow but somehow theyre able to make a dope park. i dont know why places on the east coast arent able to do this!

Rode the park all day yesterday, shit was pretty dope, jumps are well shaped, poppy and floaty. The second one's deck is a little too short for how big the lip is though in my opinion.

you're wrong there, there's definitely more than those two, crystal mt in washington doesn't. and im sure theres others. didnt snowbird used to have one as well?

sun valley has more money than the whole east coast and a really good snowmaking system, that is why.

also i hope to get up there this chrstmas break

does anyone know if theres a bus from boise to sv

because the tammy bus was a "sunvalley" bus and maybe they use it now that tammy died

I agree 100%. Everything else was way fun!! And yes there is a bus from Boise to Sun Valley, it runs all the time because of the airports.

YES! the park in Sun Valley is truly awesome, i've been having so much fun on the jump line. they are quite lofty and smooth. as this blunt with a broken hand displays HA
