Summit Pass

I find it interesting that Summit decided to tax Alpental riders this winter... Maybe it will help keep the crowds down, which would be nice, but I am not sure if taxing Alpentalics is the way to do it.

$339 - Unlimited

$289 - everything but Alpental on weekends but includes a $10 lift ticket discount on Weekend Alpental

Is summit worth it? I moved up from SoCal where Bear Mountain was my home mountain. I'm looking at getting a season pass, but I hate to buy one without "testing" a mountain first.

Awesome, $339 is more than decent!

The limited one is tempting though... you still get Alpy on the weekdays, just not weekend. Its crowded then anyways.... I think I'll still have to get the unlimited one though, weekdays will be at a premium for me this winter with work.

Well Bear is in Big Bear Lake. Closest city is San Bernardino. Anything in the Inland Empire puts you pretty close. Once you get into Orange County and LA your drive doubles.

they've been doing that for a long time, that's why Kevin and I got our passes taken away that one year

hahahahaha!!! I remember that! Good times! That was the biggest load of BS ever, didn't you have to pay like $70 to get them back?

And this Big Bear mountain you speak of... close to Victorville means its close to Palmdale. I'll likely be in Palmdale for a good month or so this winter... perhaps I should take some skis?

My thought is not really regarding the price as much as it is that if you want to ski Alpental you have to pay more.

I would be interested in what people thought if it were reversed and Summit was taxed.

It would be best if Central was more expensive, I ski there the least. Alpental is definitely worth the extra money though. I ski more at East, West and Alpental than I do at Central.

That would ruin alpental. All the people that don't go up much, would be going to Alpental and clogging up the runs instead of staying over at Central where they belong. I'm a big fan of charging more for Alpental.

It'll just keep some of the gomers away from Alpental on the weekends, I look at it as a good thing

Palmdale is more like 2 hours away from Big Bear Lake. I'd take some skis if you want to ski while in Cali... Bear Mountain is an all park mountain with some nice canyons for tree skiing when the snow is deep enough. There's another resort like 5 minutes away from Bear called Snow Summit that has mainly groomed runs, but can get pretty nice when it snows a lot.

awesome, thanks for the info! I will probably only have a day or two out of the month I am there off, will be working the rest of the time. I might not even be going there, it might be hawaii instead, but I won't know for a while.

summer? This will be in winter... there's no skiing in summer, unless somebody's been lying to me since childhood?

i meant since you wont be able to ski much in cali, taht boeing would pay for a summer ski trip (and i think i have to tell you that santa isnt real)

ah, I understand.

and whats this entirely inappropirate comment regarding santa about? lies, all lies!

Stop crying! The price of a seasons pass for Alpental isn't even as bad as a price for a seasons pass to Crystal. Its like $900 but Crystal is better than Alpental anyways and next year the price might get lower for Crystal cuz John the guy who owns Crystal has liver cancer.

that whole cali thing is gay. i'm gonna like get my house sold and move out to WA then my dad will have to leave for cali. it'll be gay. where in cali are they going do you know?

Are you talking about Boeing?

I know of no such Boeing-California deal. I go to Palmdale, Ca for testing, but thats all.
