Summer setup skiing

First off my summer is screwed in terms of summer skiing; I have to wear a sling for 3 weeks thanks to dislocating my shoulder, plus I'm moving. But anyway, what length of skis are best to practice with on the summer setup? I have Chronic 171s and some old beat up Afterbang 155s. Longer would be the exact same as what I ski with on snow, but shorter would be easier to handle and would fit through the transition easier. What length do you guys ski with on your setup?

If you're Using any length but the length you'd be using in the reg season, you're not doing yourself any favors

OP, use a ski that is closest to your regular season ski but make sure it's a beater ski. Don't use the ski you normally use, it will get pretty trashed. If I were you, I'd go use the afterbangs. It's much better to adjust back to 171 at the start of the season than to trash your nice skis.

If your planning on buying new skis then go with the line chronic. Dont trash your nice skis. Use the afterbangs if your not planning on getting new skis soon. Sorry about ur arm, try to stay active it helps take your mind off of not being able to ski.

Use your most old beat up skis because a summer setup really can take a toll on your skis.

false, my skis and friends skis are fine from 2-3 years of summer setup and mountain skiing, it just adds more base scratches but if you wax then your fine

Thanks for the vibes fam! I think I'm gonna go with the afterbangs since they have about the same swing weight even though they're shorter. Plus they're already beat up with some nice base scratches and sidewall chips haha

yeah and more likely for edge cracks and dings in your topsheets and sidewalls. Rails in general take a toll on skis. Summer setups are practically accelerated life testing. Having said that, I use my regular Mt. skis on my summer setup...

I have a shitty pair of line skis that are 155 and a nice pair of armadas that are 170's. First I used my lines but then went to my 170's. I didn't notice a big diffrece in transition but I did notice it was much harder to go from 170's back to the 155's or 170's back to the 155's. If your drop in is clean then the only damage will be scratching on the sides from your skis rubbing and this happens on the snow too.
