Im trying to build a set up this summer and need some ideas of what kind of rails/boxes to make, the best material to use, the best turf, topping for boxes, etc..

Construction fencing works well for the drop in, and for the rail or box pvc pipe works well, you could also by culvert tubing and use that.

use astro turf, which is available at home depot lowes etc.., then use for the artificial snow you can use snow gel, or some of my friends have even used laundry detergent. for a simple rail, i bought two pvcpipes and driled them on to a 2x4 and then used 2x4s for the base. the best thing for a box is hdpe and there are many youtube videos on how to build those. good luck

the tops for regular boxes are plexiglass but thats pretty pricey, but if you can afford it go with it otherwise ^^^^^^^are good cheaper choices.

Get astro turf then pour water/soap onto it.

For a box you might want to get PVC or that other fancy shmancy stuff (I FORGET THE NAME OF IT!) Or what I have is a cutting board like material.

i was thinking about building one this summer i was going to get the stuff they make indoor putting courses out of and use that as a runway and landing just wet it down, i heard it works

By construction fencing, do you mean this stuff?

for drop I use a big tarps folded up, laid down a small hill, then a small jump with turf or carpet(more grip for spinning on) throw laundry detergent on it and spray it down with a lot of water and your good to go. For rails, just simple 2 by 4 frame with plenty support. 2 2" pvc for top and u got a classic shot gun rail, just gotta get creative.(see season 1 of traveling circus or old meathead videos) then I use 2 layers of shaggy carpet wet down for nice easy on the knees landing

use pvc(white) or abs(black) pipes from homedepot. all sizes work and its pretty cheap(6 or less bucks at my local one). i got my turf also at homedepot. it was like 35 cents a square foot or $3.50 or something for a square yard.

just soak the astro turf with water and throw some powder soap stuff on top. For a box the cheapest way to go is just put a bunch of two inch wide pvc tubes on the top. Also the white plastic fencing is supposed to be pretty slippery

http://chinadroll.wordpress.com/2007/10/ it's the first pic I don't know how to put pics up and snow fence works good over top of astro turf but they're both pricey

alternative to pvc are hdpe sheets. they're more expensive but they'll last and will make a pretty legit box

this is mine, it works really well, i had to make it different because i have a tiny backyard
