Suggestions on making this into a rail

So I found this piece of metal in my garage and think it would make an awesome rail. We wedged the bottom onto pieces of firewood and it worked ok, it fell off quite a few times, but slides really well. I think its a part to a scaffolding set that doesnt belong to me so if I could turn it into a temporary rail that would be the best, but if we have to ruin it so be it. Our landlord promised to move all this shit out of our garage and never did so screw her and her scaffolding.

Any sugegstions/ideas would be awesome, thanks.

Make a wooden frame, and make sure the measurments are correct and just plop it in becasue it looks like it has ridges. It might move a little but but it will be steady and wont harm it.

it looks around 6 inches wide so if you drop a 2x6 in there and build suppports it will be sick just tack it in on the top with a couple of small nails on each end. thatd be pree solid and if you have to take it down it would come out easily
