Suggestions for buying a longboard

So i'm looking for a longboard to use so I can cruise around town and possibly ride a couple small hills. I'd also like to learn how to powerslide. I've considered purchacing a neversummer or madrid board but I don't know much about them. Any suggestions will be of much help and +k

I'm about 120 and 5' 8" if that helps.

Thanks NS!

Landyachtz Spud would sound like you since it's short, yet very stable and allows you to do anything, Great to learn on aswell since lower centre of gravity.
NeverSummer boards are very nice aswell

if you were just cruising, i would get arbor, but since you want to slide, go with loaded or gravity.

Bustin' Boards.

Myself and alot of other members can attest to their awesomeness. My friend and I have the maestro and another has the spliff, both super awesome boards.

Bryant Cooper Longboards. The EEL is extremely similiar to the Loaded dervish with half the price tag. I have had mine for a few years now and only have minor damage, it is really durable and extremely fun.

Earthwing supermodel, superglider, or supercharger, all three are dope boards. And if you are looking for some more advice you can make an account at silverfishlongboarding.com and ask there, make sure to include all your stats, price range, and things you'd like to do with it. For the supermodel, and super charger go with indy 215's and a 70 mm wheel, superglider go with indy 169's and a 66mm wheel. All of the above are super dope boards with great quality. Pm me with any more questions if you'd like.

Landyachtz suck. I've owned two and they fall apart if you hit a curb. Bustin is more freeride oriented. Apex is waayyy too flexy for me. Never summer is a really cool company and the boards are made with snowboard materials. Earthwing is bomber and way legit. Rayne Longboards are a bit expensive but they are on weels all over the world. Me and a friend have the killswitch and vendetta. Best all around boards.

But look around and read stuff. You find something you like. Topmount boards will give you more grip. Drop throughs will slide better. Drop decks feel amazing because they put you closer to the road.

That helps alot! Thanks

You say drop through board will slide better but if i'm going through town and dodging cars/pedestrians i'll want a responsive board. What would be best for sliding and carving?

I was going to get a longboard for this summer too, and I was very close to getting an original hybrid 35 or an apex 42. They seemed like pretty sweet longboards. But I ended up just getting back into skating..good luck!
