Sugarloaf's Spillway East Chair Derails

We want make you aware that there has been a derailment of the Spillway East chairlift. There has been approximately 8 injuries, with most appearing to be minor.

Currently our ski patrol is responding to the incident and evacuating our guests from the lift. We will keep you informed and will further update you by 1pm.
 
wow, I guessing it was the nasty wind gusts. I saw an evacuation at mrg on the single chair, takes along time to get everyone off chairs. Makes you really fortunate when you end along day with no hiccups. Hope everyone is ok and they compensate those riders appropriately.
 
i heard from a source (who works there) that its the lift attendants fault. i guess people were warning them about the metal to metal contact on the tower wheels and they continued to run the lift. i guess 20 mins later this happened. this is really aweful, hopefully this doesnt put the loaf in financial trouble, or worse, boyne resorts. but i hope everyone is okay!! i guess there were a couple airlift evacs.
 
vibes to the people riding the lift. that must take forever to exacuate the people on the chair. hope sugarloaf doesnt get in legal trouble.
 
i was amazed more resorts didnt close down lifts today because of the fuckin' gail force winds out there haha....but this is why when its as windy as it was today i dont bother going even though we did get dumped on recently (bout time) hope everyone turns out ok and im sure we'll see more places quick to close lifts due to winds this year....i cant remember a year in recent history that has had so much go wrong in such a small amount of time....cannons deaths now this....be caucious out there and may the shred be with you....
