Sugar bowl ?

supposedly there is a pipe comp there next week, but as far as I know the pipe has yet to be dug or cut... anyone have any info

a patroller told me they are abandoning the in ground pipe next to lincoln for sume gully off judah...wtf mate?

I was there wednseday amd there was no sign of any pipe. The inground is for sure not happening. But the pipe never made sense on lincon any way, it always should have been on juda. BTW, sugar does have a pretty fun park, with NO ONE in it. love thier rainbow boxes, boreal needs some of those.

I've always said that sugar bowl has the most retarded pipe location ever. It should have been put near judah, or at least off a location on christmas tree... There isnt even an inrun to get into the thing..

LOL, for sure. i know I was pretty much the other day, and suck. Makes progression easier to I think, I learned 2 new tricks the other day, and I never try new shit.

They need to work on their jumps so bad. You get about four feet high on them, and the landings are flatter than a 10 year old girl.

Sugar Bowl has the most gapers in thier park of any place I have ever been. Makes northstar look empty. It's fucking rediculous and dangerous.

^I third that statement. The new setup with the higher entrance through the gate and the new jumpline is a HUGE improvement though. Not many gapers there on sunday either although that may have been due to the weather. If they'd just bump those tables out so they're longer and poppier they'd have a pretty sick jump line right now I think, I'm interested to see what happens once the weather warms up.

I rode there again today and agree on the jumps. The first one is sick, with a nice landing. However the 3 that follow it SUCK. Still a fun set up though.

Hey Jonahs, just take over at Sugar Bowl. Then I think everyone will be happier. Bring your jumps and put your influence somewhere it will be more appreciated. Oh yeah, then the rest of us can afford it!

I was hitting that one, then cutting back into the smaller park the rest of the way down.

snowbomb slopestyle at sugarbowl this weekend? maybe they will build the jumps up for this. (hopefully) should be fun though.. everyone should go!

I used to run the park at the bowl about 5 years ago. We had sick jumps there from 99-03. The first year we moved dirt for the pipe was my last season there. The pipe was put under silverbelt because it was the only spot with snowmaking and halfpipe pitch that was aimed North-South. We use to have a pipe on Judah and it sucked. One slush wall and one ice wall. Judah has bad exposure for a halfpipe.

If you guys have some comments about the park you should talk to J.P. Martin. He is a super nice guy, and I'm sure he would listen to your suggestions.

Sugar Bowl's latest fencing addition has been pretty nice... I might just suggest that the top of the fence is on a slightly flatter pitch so that people aren't sliding into eachother to line up for the first hit.

I'd say the best atitude to take to any park nowadays is to expect nothing. Be happy to ski.

We exchanged letters a few times over the internet.....I can forward them onto you if your curious to see them. I agree J.P. seems like a cool guy, but unfortunatly for us he is not interested in building the kinfd of caliber parks that you do. He expressed interest in appealing to the causual weekend family vfacation type from the bay. Smaller jumps and easier features for everyone. It's been a real shame for us this year fighting to hit features with the rest of the families having picnics and yardsales on the lips and landings of the 15ft. jumps. It's too bad too because all of the guys on park staff are rad and super friendly!

I will say they have built thier jump line up in the last two weeks, but some still have flat landings. Jonahs, you should really offer some friendly advice on jump construction and how many people a legit jump line can attract!

Thats my rant for now. I'm stoked to see what happens with the slopestyle course!!!

I got a better idea. Jonhas should take over donner ski ranch and make it reCOCKulous and show boreal how to make nice jumps. id enjoy that.

I know they get the biggest most dangerous inbounds cornice in the world on the back.

Kind of like Snowpark? Like two lifts and a ton of cool features. I wanna hit that little cliff band there too. Place kinda looks like fun.

Seems like there are some good riders there. On pow days you can see bomb holes at the bottom of the big part of that cliff. It doesn't look like a small cliff either, anyone know how tall it normally is?

That would be pretty fucking amazing... 15 bucks on weekdays dood.

and They actually have some gnar terrain in all honesty...

I'll say those DSR cliffs are bigger than they look... I went on a wednesday in early february just to hit those and some other goodies on the backside... first run right under the chair rolled windows for at least 30 feet before opening a new bombhole. Next few runs were sick, a few maching pow turns leading into that cliffband and repeat... the three of us got fresh landings all day.

I highly recommend DSR on a midweek pow day!

Yeah.. those cliffs right under that first chair look insane.. but they also look like the runout flattens faster than if you pressed your tux pants with a steamroller.

There is def. some gnar terrain.. and if you're poor and looking for a good thrill.. Ranch is sick.

Plus, there are some sick places to build booters off of south bowl road.
