Subaru WRX

So recently I have been given the opportunity to trade my 97 4runner for an 02 WRX. Both cars have 200+k miles but are in good condition. The dude wants to make a straight trade which im cool with just wanted to see if any of ya have experience with subies and how they are after 200k. Im a bit skeptical. Lemme know

Performance mods include:

Mishimoto radiator

Cobb intake,

Perrin turbo inlet

GT Spec headers and uppipe

Turbo xs downpipe, mid pipe, axle back(currently has Sti axle back installed),

Access port with IAG pro-tune and PDX tuning maps

Kart boy short shifter

Kart boy knob

Idk a whole lot about subarus or cars in general, but I do know that everyone says stay away from a modified car with high miles

You would have to be a major idiot to make that trade. Your trading one of the most reliable trucks ever made for a car known for people driving it very aggressively. Not to mention already modded. 4runners are known to go well over 200k wrx's not so much...why would you give that up? The reason the guy is offering you a straight trade is because its a way better deal for him. Throw a couple engine mods on your 4runner if you want something faster.

Thats why im skeptical. The 4Runner is a beast because im running 3 inch lift with 33's. Hasn't given me a single problem. Always wanted to get into a subie though but the high miles is sketching me out

What's the average lifespan for a Toyota 4runner?

300,000+miles?

What's the average lifespan for a WRX?

What's the average lifespan for a modded WRX?

yeah the fact he is willing to trade so easy would scare me. Can we see a pic of the 4runner with a lift?

Quote got messed up somehow but like i said running different wheels than this

Definitely not 200,000 miles.

OP this wrx has to be very close to death or a lot of problems. I wouldn't do it

A modified WRX with 200k miles on the clock raises more than a few red flags. I would not go for this. 12 year old turbo? Noo!

As listed above no, don't do it. Also the head gasket has probably gone to shit and the wrx leaks oil because of the bad head gasket.

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I'm keepin the runner and dumpin some money into the motor. Either a 2jz or cummins swap in the near future, haven't made up my mind! +k to all y'all

Seriously do that yourself. The owner probably launches it every time he drives it or hits the limiter every time he "rally's it" and 200k wont get you far especially with aftermarket parts. A 2jz swap would be sick as hell, mod it yourself dont buy something done for you #builtnotbought
