Gotta say it looks a ton better the Scion FR-S Concept:

This should be a pretty interesting car.

Glad to see Toyota and Subaru going outside their boxes.

Car sucks, it better have good performance mods...it looks nice kind of like an RX8 and a Genesis Coupe with the aston martin body kit. Although the car lookwise is great, the performance sucks, NA V4 197hp...nuff said

Its a flat 4, not a V4, just clarifying.

200 hp on sub 3000-lb car is not too shabby. This isnt a drag car, its a drivers car. More inline with the Mazda Mx-5, but not as flaming.

yeah...just released car that you have never experienced must 'suck'

sorry it doesn't have 500whp...

take it for what it is man.. a relatively affordably, tossable gorgeous little coupe. the thing weighs 2650lbs. realistically, performance should be comparable to NC miatas.

not to mention that the aftermarket for this will probably explode fairly quickly.

but yeah, I mean...it probably 'sucks'

just appreciate the fact that this is one of the true enthusiast cars that are still being produced amongst a sea of souless appliances.

Lol ur right, i shouldnt judge a car that ive never driven but c'mon, its a buzzkill when u have a car that looks immaculate and fyi i didnt mean an actual aston martin, i meant this.http://www.rwdcoupe.com/exterior/1039-aston-martin-style-genesis-coupe-body-kit-photos.html

Anyways u have a great looking car but when it doesnt have the stock power to back it up it kinda just is a buzzkill. Although i do agree with u rkp that YA its going to have a shit ton of performance mods when it comes out :)

Why do you keep arguing that power is so important?

Subaru BRZ - 2,600lbs/200hp

Lotus Exige - 2,100lbs/190hp

Mazda RX-8 - 3,000lbs/230hp

Mazda MX-5 - 2,500lbs/167hp

all I have to say is that power (though awesome) is not everything.

I've seen cars with 1/2, 1/3 the hp of other cars absolutely rape everyone due to driver skill, suspension/tire setup. common knowledge.

plus you can bet that a turbo version of the brz will be coming shortly. that'll quell the hp whiners.

it should've had one to start. How is it an sti when it's a rwd coupe, with a 2.0. Only thing i see/heard similar to the sti is an "sti tuned suspension" and it has sti wheels..

this is still technically a concept car. there will definitely be changes to the production model (notice how the show car doesn't even have door handles?).

anyway, I can imaging the base 2.0l car lacking most of the aero bits/wheels+arches/tiny rear mirrors/quad pipes etc (still a gorgeous shape), with the later sti version appearing more closely to what this concept is. engine placement would make awd in that platform challenging....but a rwd sti brz would be unreal.

it's all about garnering attention at this stage of the game. of course they're going to go all out.

I just read the Car and Driver review, they rather liked it. Apparently it has in the vicinity of 200-220 hp, about 170 ft/lbs of torque. It supposedly handles very well though, they raved a bit about that.

"At this point, the BRZ appears to be the car we’ve been waiting for—the inexpensive, rear-drive sprite the industry has somehow managed to avoid making for generations. It’s the spiritual descendent of the old-school Z, BMW’s 2002, the rear-drive Celica, and all the other lesser saints of bygone days."

Gonna make a hipster claim here. I remember when the original toyota ft-86 concept came out.

I though it was pretty damn sweet, and the new one looks pretty good, though I prefer the original concept's styling. I personally don't want that massive spoiler, its pretty distasteful. Also, they originally said it'd be in the low 20k range, which seemed awesome, but now it's 28k. I guess the scion'll be a bit cheaper, probably have less options though.

I got the motortrend where they had a big thing on the brz and supposedly this is a pretty realistic concept, with only some minor changes, such as the body kit not being so flashy, and probably smaller wheels, because i think the concept has 19"s and they'll probably be 18"s, but i wasn't reading too closely

really like both designs! being its a flat 4 subie the aftermarket potential is already there! finally a FR subaru!!!

reasons why the genesis is better

4g63 based blcok

that means swapping out the head would yeild a motor set for around 485 hp without replacing pistons, rods, anything- in short add more fuel and a bigger turbo- which is cheap as hell in the long run-

genesis does not have forged internals, gotta build it to go high HP. Been there, i had a upgraded stock turbo + tune close to 300hp in my genesis, but the tranny sucks and no forged internals and it doesnt go in the snow, so i traded for an STI, very happy now.

brz looks cool, hopefully they do a turbo variant sometime or something

you can also just swap it for wrx or sti heads, upgraded turbo and that will yield similar results...or swap a 2.5 sti block

false and more false. The sound is ok but not that great.. what do you mean more reliable you do realize that the "boxer" motor aka ej25 is all aluminum.. 4g63 is cast iron. As I have owned and worked on both which im guessing you havent not, I can tell you that stock and modded the 4g63 has less problems.

now go on with more comments by people that have no idea what they are talking about..

yes ive worked on my share of 4g63's....well lets look stock for stock whats more reliable a bugeye ej20 or a 2g dsm?
