Style

Its the age old argument, style. Steve Stepp's most recent series of trollin' has brought to mind this question, which style is best? I'm not necessarily talking about skinny, baggy or punk. I'm talking about the execution and what the tricks are. For example in my opinion Candide Thovex's D-Spin 720 (cork 7 to you and me) over Chads gap or his huge switch 180 over Big Bertha were two of the most stylish things ever done on skis. Don't get me wrong dub 12s and triple 14s are insane and look cool but I just feel its getting to a stage of spin to win, do you not think the sport should take a step back to the early 2000s? I mean how many times have you seen a dub 12 with an insanely tweaked out mute or stale? Lets oppose this with JP or Candides tricks. Exactly.

Also I like all style of skiing such as smooth buttery tricks from skiers like Henrik and The Bunch, but I cant decide whether I like this more than the fast jittery shiftie styles of Drexler and Max Hill. Just give us your opinion in the poll I will leave below. Also message me if you want more options in the poll.

Peace!

The options I have several options in the poll.

Fast and jittery= Cole Drexler/Max Hill

Smooth and Buttery= Henrik/B-Dog

Maximum Spins over any jump.

Big Jumps Minimal spins.

There is a guy at my home mountain who has more style than any pro. I don't know his name, and I only see him like 2 times every ski season. But he is the most stylish skier I've ever seen. I can always recognize him, as he is the guy going Mach 5 through the small park boosting zero spins off of everything.

I love "skatepark skiing". Where it's in an area of urban/man made snow features and a bunch of guys just butter, jib, and tailpress everything while fucking around at the same time.

Nothing against Henrik, but I feel like his style has delined a bit, as far as the "smooth and buttery" style goes, Adam Delorme is by far the best there is. Candide has some of the sickest 3s or cork 3s out there, and I know it's clitche in our sport, but Tom wallisch is still or of the all around, smoothest stylish riders. I'm also enjoying what Jesper Tjader and Ostyein braatten(butchere the spelling) are bringing to the table.

the style i most like is the style yoke collection dudes have. it's not smooth but then again it's not super precise. it's just perfect and pleasing to my eye.

but that doesn't mean i don't enjoy watching AD butter his way down the mountain or watching cole tap the shit outta everything

the bunch should have their own thing in the poll, i prefer their style over most, excluding AD, Candide, etc., and their edits.

Nick Goeppers style is so fucking clean, it's amazing to watch.

Why can't we just enjoy them all equally?

Well firstly Nick Goepper and Joss Christiensen and many other riders have no style, just robotic repetitive skiing. And in my opinion we can enjoy them all, its always good to have a preference and influence.

I love the way Cole, Max hill, Corey Vanular (nowadays but I've always enjoyed him), and rob huel ski. But I am not a huge fan of the skinny pants look. Except Forster Meeks, that guy rocks them the best IMO.

I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be embraced within that shorthand description ["style"], and perhaps I could never succeed in intelligibly doing so. But I know it when I see it.

No one has "no style". style is subjective. what looks good to you, such as people like phil, AD and others may look "not stylish" to others. I agree, people such as Goepper have a more "robotic" style, but to some, that looks just as good as a smooth AD butter.

I think torin has a style that needs to be more appreciated. Love me some sabek edits too. Like the style of "let me 7 off this jump into pow at alta"

Why do people still say "he has no style" it pisses me off when kids say that. Having "style" isnt only skiing like Phil or Henrik, I have my own style and so do others. Wallisch and Goepper have DIFFERENT styles, ones a little more smooth and relaxed while the other is more competition and making everything perfect.

With that said I'd say Torin for cruising in edits and Goepper or Joss for comp.

what is the point of spinning over a 7? literally all you should ever need is a cork 3, cork 5, rodeo 5, and truckers slides.
