style on rails, skiers dont have it

just watched stereotype and watched the guys doing some really technical rails (triple kinks and such) it was cool but kinda annoying to see their arms flailing everywhere while they are sliding. i think its time we stop working on doing huge quintuple kink rails, and start working on have more control while we're jibbin, make it look easy instead of like you're having a terrible time balancing yourself, anyways, just a thought

yeah chrichtons quad kink rails were kinda sketchy, but they still looked cool. The best railslide in the entire movie was mike nick's curved slide (must have been 50 feet) where he won the $100 bill

yea, in a lot of ski movies guys are flailing all over the place, but in pep's segment in happy dayz, his rail gap thing is beautiful, it has so much style

Some skiers can do really technical rails and be flailing all over the place, like Anthony B. However other riders are very very fluid on rails and can make easier rails look amazing. Pep Fujas and Tanner Hall for instance.

I think that it takes time for skiers to develop the things we are new at.

We're new at sliding huge rails, so the first couple of times it will be sketchy. Just like most tricks started out.

Watch 13, how many flails do you see?

It'll get better after time. So don't say we don't have style, rather say that we don't have it yet.

watch dash slide rails in stereotype tho, hes real smooth, i do agree w/ you on chrigton tho, definitely didnt like his rails.

yea and in happy days, people like philou do that..he has the 270 to kink at parkasaurus and his arms look all weird same with a kink he does..it just looks really apprehensive..

As for good rails I look to pep, tanner, candide etc.. cant wait to see stereotype though

the best rail thingy in HD was tanners rail stall on the step up rail stall coping thing. he 180ed on and didn't move it was impressive

 
I agree there are some sweet rail slides, but they look so unnatural. they need to do what they are doing with the rotations. make them art instead of a huge blimp with a logo on it. smaller, but much nicer to watch.

yeah i must admit i have some steeze on the rails. And you have to admit that stuff like tanners switch 450 disaster to 270 off was fucking sick even if it didnt have super smooth style

 
pep is really smooth on rails...his segment in scandalous is dope....i agree though, i would rather see a smooth single kink or rainbow rather than a sketchy triple kink

 
this goes back to the whole style vs. technical tricks debate.

sure a smooth straight rail can look nice but an insane 4 kink is certainly in most cases far more impressive.

last year everyone was like 'smaller stylie spins are so much better blah blah, no one should spin over 900'. Yet take a look at CR spinning huge smooth 1080's in the backcountry, incredible stylie. GIVE IT TIME.

just like before, skiers are just starting to do the tech rails, they will only get better i can absolutely guarantee you. you can't tell people like crichton to stick to the straight/non-kinked/easy rails to get his style better... he/they needs to be the ones to push the sport in this domain.

Candide, A-train(as people on this site refer to him),Jon and Pep are the best, most solid rail-riders i've seen. Propaganda when Anthony does the switch rail ride on a hand rail,oh-so progressive.

Just give it time before people start nailing big rails with style - check out strike 3, there are alot of technical rails being stomped with style!!

yeah i the front line cr had the smoothest sickest 10 off that jump that kinda went across the mountain, that jump was sick, and other people pulled smooth spins off that

ya, you can do nose presses. not sure what we'd call them as skiers, fuck it, nose press sounds good. There's a shot of Pollard I think doing one in the 00/01 season Line Team Vid.

yea, i definitely wasnt claiming to be better, ive only done a single kink, never gone for a double. it's just that i expect to see more from a 'pro' skier, and someday i hope to be able to slide a quad kink with madd control myself, the time shall be soon

just because Crichton is a pro skier does not mean that he doesn't half to balance himself on a rail, how many people did a quad kink as big as the one he did? not too many, and he did 2 different ones. i think that was amazing, i don't care if his arms waved a bit. it was awsome. and its not nice to come on here and say they have no stlye cause they wave their arms. i am sure if you start to do quad kinks, you will do it too.

oh, and that was his first attempt too!

have u ever watched snowboarders do quad kinks? they arent exactly smooth as butter either, they flail also, skiers definatley can have style on rails, and so can snowboarders its just easier to have style on a less technical rail

dude-you guys are forgetting about steele. he's the smoothest rail slider there is. he makes evey slide look easy. i think he's the number 1

 
I don't want to go off topic here guys.. and i don't want to start a debate and shit like i did last time about skiboards and free skiing..

But i read this thread it made me chuckle to my self. The whole some pro skiers on rails make them look slopy and that they just need practice to make them clean and smooth. Then i remembered my whole thread about Why you guys hate skiboarding so much. Well other then being 'Gay' most of you said it was because the trix are not stylish nore clean looking, you can't ride powder or ride big mountain. Well, you guys are right about the last 2. The one thing i don't agree is the whole skiboarding can not be sylish or clean. But did you or did you see someone actually practice on making there trix clean? I am sure that if you put as much effort in to making your trix on twins as clean as you would on skiboards your opinions would change. Thats just my opinion. Flame me if you will but just remember where twin tip skiing came from.
