Sturteveants sucks!!!

Last year i bought head mojo bindings completely overpriced(sturtavants pricing). I have had so many problems with them. The dim keeps lowering every couple of hours. So i took my skis in today and the best they said they can do is send it in and it would take a month to get it back. i am surprised they cant at least give me a refund or a deal for buying another binding. U would think with all the over priced gear they r making good income? Anyways does any one else think this is a rip?

REI = 100% satisfaction guarantee.

But honestly Sturts has always been good to me. Especially the Tacoma (old Puyallup) store. Maybe it's just you. Try bringing them a Christmas card.

so, they were completely over priced?
why did you buy them?
We don't make you buy them. And my money is that they were the same price backcountry and evo had them for. (I said had)
Then its Sturtevants fault that it takes a month to warranty something? Or would you have preferred that you were giving an unreasonable estimate of two weeks then having to wait. Sorry for the honesty.
No we can't give you a 'deal' on something from 'all the money' the store makes. Especially when you ask for it. Its not really the shops fault that your bindings were defects. And if you kept having problems with them why did you just now bring them in? You had all summer and fall?
People sit on their asses for three months and then complain when we cant give them a 2 day turn around since everyone else waited until it snowed as well.
Sorry, but I don't see what we did, other then not bending over backwards for you, to suck so much.

why would he be an alias....he's not a jackass on newschoolers. (sorry billy)

and plus, if you skied on the bindings all of last year and you had problems all year why didnt you go in earlier?

Well there's Kenny down south - might be thinking of him.

to the OP: You bought these bindings LAST YEAR. You decided they malfunction LAST YEAR. Guess when you should of warrantied them?

so question, in another thread, cobragoat said 160 for custom liners, and I was told 250 last weekend, so I was wondering if there was a special discount phrase I should have enacted?

160 should be footbeds.
or just say your tight on cash and would like to know if there are any older ones in the back.

yep. after a mis-measurement and a couple faulty mount jobs on my bents, some real shiesty warranty maneuvers, over pricing / over charging of services and a general 'snotty' attitude towards anyone who comes in and actually knows what they're talking about when it comes to skiing...i've pretty much said fuck sturtevants. they're only good at selling shit to old rich bellevueites who dont know anything about this 'new skiing tech'...and everyone who works there is usually a rich, snotty dbag who thinks hes the shit. EXCEPT for Pat V, the old boot fitting dude, and the Asian dude from montana - hes chill as fuck, if he even still works there.

Other than that, its definitely worth the trek to Evo. they keep it reaaaaal

pat quit. if your talking about Martin, he loves to be known as the old bootfitting guy.Tux is pretty cool.
I wish I was rich I might have eaten today if that was the case, and I have been sick as fuck so ya I guess I was snotty. But I don't think I am the shit.

I know I am the shit.

I would have to agree, there are a lot of old women that could have ridden the short bus when they were in school, if they ever went to school. I got good service from a girl last time i went, but Evo is the best any day.

Haters Haters, when are you going to realize its a business with a key demographic that is not dirtbags like us. I don't think sturts is gonna hurt if you go to evo, so go for it. Bottom line, I've never had an issue in there, they're mounting my S3s right now, getting me my boots back by Friday so I can ride saturday and were really helpful. So what if they cater to the "don't know about gear" set, thats the point of a store with equipment experts. I walked in there, pulled the S3s off the rack, said I need these mounted, and off we went. Yes, the industry is evolving, and stores are popping up that cater to the 'newschool' movement, however, when they've had the staying power that Sturts has, then you can talk about them in the same conversation. No hate here, I love all the local shops: Sturts, Evo, Seattle Ski, Alpine Hut, they're great and have done nothing but stoke the vibe...but you can always find better prices on the web.

You waited a year to go after warranty? I'm surprised they still sent them in, but theGoat is right, its not sturtevants job to warranty the equipment. You should have just sent them into Head's warranty department. Also, its the beginning of ski season, of course its gonna take a while to get anything processed.

Editorial on REI, yeah, they have guarantees, but their selection is lacking.

More than anything the best thing you can do in choosing a shop is find knowledgeable people you like in a particular shop. Some employees are usually better than others. If I wanted my skis mounted I know chris shalbot at evo would do a great job. Everyone's best friend thegoat at sturts is a great boot fitter I hear, and is pretty good guy. Proski is a smaller shop and the employees have a lot of touring/bc know-how. Those are just examples. Point is, good and bad everywhere you go~

exactly. and to people saying "they arent in it to serve the younger demographic" is bull, a legit shop will be able to satisfy all its customers regardless of their age or ski style/ability

Nobody said they don't serve our demographic, if anything, I said I don't have any problems with it. What I said was they have a KEY demographic that they are trying to serve. I'd say if anything, they've moved further to ours with their outerwear selection and ski selection. I don't see a lot of rich guys buying Bent chetlers or Armada or Armada outerwear....

Very true. They've moved a lot from their $900 Spyder jackets to the $250 Aramda stuff. Good improvement. ;D They're probably actually making more from that than from the $900 stuff. haha

i havnt had any problems with them. i got some boots there and took them in a week or so later to martin(boot fitter guy) to get them punched out and worked on a little and he did it all for free. good customer service but they are a little pricey, but all ski stuff is.

My experience with the Tacoma (used to be Puyallup) Sturts has been nothing but positive. Super fast shop work, friendly service, and knowledgeable staff. Kenny, the head tech, is probably the best I've ever seen.

If you would have bought them from Backcountry.com, you could return them now for a full, no questions asked refund.... Now you see why you should buy from Backcountry.

I didn't buy my boots nor did I buy the intutition liners that went in my boots, but when I went there some sarcastic husky (as in fat) dude helped me out. Aside from his annoying sense of humor, they were pretty helpful. The asian dude was pretty nice though.

Go talk to Eric or Colin at sturts and they'll set you up right. Both know their shit extremely well and actually know what they're doing when it comes to selling skis/bindings/boots/boards and even tennis rackets.

People are bound to have shitty expereiences no matter where they go. The real question to the op is why didnt you take care of your problem at the end of last season? Why wait till now?

like the two extra holes they drilled in my skis and never told me about... I find them 2 years latter when I take the bindings off, really stoked tho find that the skis are worth less then I thought they were. It does not bother me that they messed up on the mount, mistakes happen, but at least be honest about it and don't try and cover your tracks.

Kenny is the ski-tech ninja! Chad A. is the best bootfitter I've ever met, other then myself, and a select few dinosaurs still lurking among us. Store frontman Keith Rollins is the face of Crystal Mountain, head of their freeride team, and a long time judge of the SilverKing Freeride Challenge. If I wasn't in the industry then Tacoma Sturts would be my shop for sure!
